We are still new with Commvault and AWS and more specifically fitting into a REAL budget.  Recently there was a report of some drastic increase in charges for a small vpc environment.  We are at 11.28.36 and are backing up a total of 18 EC2s with 1 Full / week and 1 Incremental / day (except on the Full day).  The Storage Policy for retention is set to 30 days and 0 cycles.  We also note that AWS recently started encrypting S3 buckets for free.  We also have encryption AES 256 set,Also so note that the S3 was originally setup with versioning.  We have since (12/2022) suspended the versioning and have plans to use a new S3 and seal off the DDB. We have never done a restore in this list environment.The question is how or if Commvault uses the GET, PUT, COPY, POST & LIST functions?  The accounting people have reported the following:******Feb – 2023 – Total S3 Bill was ~$174Amazon Simple Storage Service USW2-Requests-Tier1    $17.47$0.005 per 1,000 PUT, COPY, POST, or LIST requests    

I’ve been plugging away at testing Terraform with Commvault, but I keep hitting a wall with authentication. We have upgraded out Commserve from FR24 to FR28.I took hours to trouble shoot and upgrade the Commserve. We dit not have time to upgrade the media agents to FR28. This will happen in the next service Window.Some of out customer upgraded the client to FR28. We are getting error in our backup.Error Code: [80:267]Description: Unsupported MediaAgent version.Solution:1. Upgrade media agents. ( not possible today,  need new change)2. Uninstall FR28 agent and reinstall FR24 agent.3. Is there additional setting to ignore FR28 version?bIgnoreVersionCheck?Any other ideas?

Hi community, could help me please, i have this error, i've tried everything but i don't have connection with mediagent the auxiliary copy is waiting. Too i've test the tool utility provided in the software however the error continue. The error i have is: Drive has been marked as inaccessible on this MediaAgent. Advice: Please use the troubleshooting utility provided in the software's installation folder to perform diagnostics on this device.Best regards.

Hello everybody,is there any way to retrieve the throughput of a given job over time, in order to examine how it changes during the execution?I would like to see if there are evident fluctuations in the throughput of long lasting jobs. Thank you!Gaetano

Upon attempting a 1-Touch restore on a linux box (bare metal) we get the following:ErrorPost Install Operations Failed.Error: qlogin failed.Logs available at URL: http:///Is there something simple we are missing here?I was able to use the same account to login to commserve from the 1-Touch backup source client with the credentials used in the restore, so it must be something else we are doing wrong.Any ideas? 

Good day Community,Had a cloud MediaAgent send data to an Azure blob. I was sending AuxCopies to that MediaAgent for a while now.I now added a second MediaAgent to the Storage pool, verified that all my storage policy copies have round-robin and launched an AuxCopy. But all the streams are still going only to my first MediaAgent. If I remember correctly, there might be a mapping that was done between the source and destination streamsIs there a way to force the round-robin, and override the mapping? Many thanks in advance.

Hello Team! I have a server with SAP Hana configured and although the archive log jobs are running it is not clearing the log area. The /hana/log directory has reached 99% utilization and to work around the situation I ran the "alter system reclaim log". I would like to know if there is any configuration for the log area to be cleared after the Archive Log job is completed and prevent it from reaching the limit. Thanks! 

we have primary and DR servers . archive file generated on primary transferred to DR to apply the changes , after every backup before deleiting it should ensure the archive which are synced with DR  is this happening in the backend , is commvault will only delete the synced logs , how can we make sure  

i would like to know what is the best way to backup and restore the sql vm which has intendant diskbackup -type 1 - vm level backup - in this the independent disk is not included type 2 -File system level backuptype 3 - database full backuptype 4 - archive backup if i have a situation where my whole environment is affected what is  the restoration procedure first vm restore then file system level restorethen db full restore then archive restore this will take hours and hours to complete , is there anyway i can take the backup and restore effectively by reducing down time can someone help me please 

How to add more disk space to the index cache volume. Can some one help and share the steps to perform this task. We have space crunch and procurred two new SSD’s to increase the space. 

Hello, Last week we upgrade OS from 2012 to 2022 with SQl 2019. And now i see that one of the user cannot qlogin on another client to run a script. Its saying that username or passwoord invaled. But with the same user i can log in on webinterface or command center.  EvSecurityMgr::userLogin() - Socket [0x00000000000019AC]: LOGIN ERROR: Invalid login/password attempt with UserName  With another user can i have no probleem to qlogin Now i want to create a new user but i need change from normaal password to Strong Paswoord -ps. Any idee how i do it? 

I am getting all twisted up with the groups created in LiveSync. With multiple CommServes what groups should Media Agent Agents and VSA VM’s be put into? Should they all be infrastructure as well?What is definition of internal and external? I’m using the predefined topoolgies created when turn on LiveSync. Thanks in advance.

I am hoping someone can provide clarification on the difference between releasing a client’s license and retiring that client. We have clients with backup data we wish to retain until it ages out, but the client does not need to be backed up.As I understand it, releasing the license means backups will no longer take place but backup data will remain intact. Retiring the client seems to also do this. Is the primary difference that a client can have its license re-allocated, whereas a retired client must be recreated as a new client? If this is the case, what’s the use case for retiring a client completely?Many thanks for reading and any input!

Hi Team, I have a requirement to produce the details on the last backup taken,  for roughly 400 clients.qlist lastjob works well, but I can’t force it to accept a parameter file, as I was hoping to put all 400 clients into a text file and pass it to the q-command. I know a lot of these Q-commands will accept a parameter via “-af  c:\temp\parmfile.txt”.However, this cmd does not want to accept it. Does anyone out there know of a variation, or of another CMD that would give me these results? Thanks (and apologies for dodgy spelling in the title … can’t seem to change it)

Please verify Client[APP-SHAREPOINT], Agent[Sharepoint Server], Instance[defaultInstance], Backupset[Sharepoint Online], Subclient[SharepointOnline] is associated to a valid Storage Policy.”. How can I fix it? How can I configure autodiscovery regarding content (Exchange, Sharepoint, OneDrive and Teams) before to add content?Agent is not visible (from the console) in this context? Hello,Dr backup is configured with the below location.\\ip\h$\Commserve_DR This is basically a Media Agent (windows) and in H drive I am storing the metadata to this location.When I click on the browse option and give the username and password, it says incorrect username or password. I have given the correct username and password but still its giving error. How can I get the correct username and password?There is one option to change the username and I did that also but still its not working. Also Upload backup metadata to Commvault cloud - It creates a air-gap copy of metadata but where it exactly store? Is there any cost of storing the metadata on Commvault cloud. How to access this metadata whenever required? Also Upload backup metadata to Cloud library - It creates a air-gap copy of metadata. I can select any Cloud library but where it is exactly store? How to access the metadata?  Retention of drbackup is 5 days so same applicable to Commvault Cloud and Cloud library ? 

Hello all,Is there a log file on the backed up client (Windows OS) that shows all (successfully) backed up files from a File System Backup?As you can view all the successfully backed up files from within Commvault the information must be there somewhere - I presume in the CommServe DB itself - but is that also logged somewhere in a log file on the client? Background:An application on that Client is creating many files on a daily basis that need to be backed up but afterwards (after 24h) are no longer needed on the client. Unfortunately, the application does not cleanup these “old” files, meaning they remain on the File System unless they are manually deleted. Due to the large size of these files (couple of GB per File) we ideally don’t want to just extend the File System but instead would prefer to run a script that runs deletes these files 1-2x per day. But to do that we somehow need to establish a logical verification that the files have been previously backed up, which is where such
