Good Day Community,I have a customer that has been using Content Indexing for several years. Now we want to move to the newest Indexing methodology using the NEW Index Server.I know there is absolutely no migration path from one to another. But luckily, the customer has all the backup data sitting on disk. So my strategy is simply to re-index the data using the new methodology, in a new Index Server. I should end up having the same results doing a search since all the will be re-ingested.Is there something else I should be aware of? Or is this the best approach to achieve this? Many thanks in advance for your input.
I’ve started to integrate the api within Databricks. With common script and managed to extract all client / sub Clients using the documentation provided from customer Support.I asked internally to our SysAdmin that manage CommVault, to give me an extraction of the data from CommVault (All Clients). The list given from sysAdmin does not match with what I extract from API ( Like 4000+ hostname in mismatch). My Question is :Has someone encountered this issue? Shouldn’t route /Client return ALL and I Mean ALL clients that I see on CommVault application? Why do we encounter a mismatch between API and commVault Extraction?
Hi, I’m looking for some clarification on backup and retention of Onedrive version history. If I’ve understood the backup correctly it will only back up the latest version of an object at every run. As described https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/130942_backups_for_onedrive_for_business.htmlWhat is the reasoning for this limitation? Retention is configured to be kept for a certain time, say 6 months after deletion, how does this affect the version history? Is versions removed from retention 6 months after being overwritten by a new version, or are they removed when the last version of a file is removed? Regards,John Robert
Hello, TeamI am having this issue when running backup on an oracle database. The backup runs but when it gets to about 80%, It throws an error and goes into pending state. What can be done to resolve this?See error below:

Hello 2nd Copies to Azure Cool Storage. In the context of architectural best practices for MediaAgent sizing (page #49), there's a statement that advises against enabling data verification for cloud storage libraries.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/assets/pdf/public-cloud-architecture-guide-for-microsoft-azure11-25.pdfAs of October 2023, is this advice still considered a valid practice? Furthermore, what methods are suggested to avoid issues with corrupted data chunks in cloud storage? Does Commvault propose the practice of sealing the DDBevery 90 or 180 days for this purpose? thanks
Hi Folks,We have a setup where our Commserve is at our corporate office on the west coast. We have a remote locations in the both the Midwest and east coast. Both the corporate office (CPO) and the remote locations have their own media agents.Today I noticed that as a remote location aux copy to Metallic was processing, that it was going to our corporate office media agent first (due to the mount path?). This aux copy (just over 500gb) took almost 17 hours. With the mount path being at CPO, does that mean the aux copy goes from the Midwest to CPO to Metallic? And if so, should I create another Metallic Storage pool for the Midwest and East coast, or should I make a Metallic storage pool for each location?Or does it really matter? Hopefully, this makes sense! Thanks for looking.
Good morning, We have 2 sets of databases that need to by in sync in terms of their refresh times. I’ll call them “ERP” and “APPS”. The “ERP” databases will remain on Oracle for some time, but the “APPS” we are moving to MS SQL. We currently use Oracle with ZFS to snap development refreshes on a periodic but sometimes changing schedule. We have this entire process automated via OS scripts that check for a trigger, and when found, consume this “trigger” file and proceed with the recreates, which dump and reload development users and permissions during the process. The “APPS” db has ~ 100 schemas, and our plan is to convert these into 100 MS SQL databases. After this DB is migrated, I need to have them refreshed on a known but sometimes changing schedule.I’ve read the thread here which explains more or less how to script the refreshes: In our case the DB names and filepaths are the same, so our script will look something like:Dump MS SQL Permissions Restore Production backups from serv
So we’ve been having issues with the DR site’s CV backup. I’ve managed to access the COMMVAULT instance in management studio, to see these lovely notes:… and:This is a system that I’ve inheirited and still learn new things about every other day. My best thought here is that I simply need to nuke and repave (rebuild) this entire CV server. It’s not the end of the world and would be a good learning experience for me. But I have to ask - is there a faster way? I really don’t think just backing up the main site’s DB and recreating everything here can be trusted (different server names, etc.) This is CV 2022 (11.28.x) running on server 2022. Based on being CV v11.28, you might already know it’s SQL Server 2014.Thougths? Merci!
Hi,why it is not possible to restore a single ms sql table to the original database? (not to the database which is created while for browse / recovery point) found this community post which is also not “solved” imo. tested with 11.24 & 11.28.latest
Is there any way to determine where the bottleneck is if CommVault is supposed to be writing data to tapes, but the tape library indicates “the tapes are idle” a lot? My throughput is not great on some of these tape jobs (multiple streams, and multiples... but 50 GB/hr or less on some of them) yet they have TB’s of data to write. I have heard of a possible “the drives are spinning up and down, wasting time" as a possibility… is there a way to see why CommVault would not be continually writing data, especially if it has multiple streams that are showing “some throughput” in the Java UI, and how one “makes sure commvault is writing data to tape as fast as it can? I have tried adding more multiplex to the tape job this month and it did not help.
can i move to version 11.30.57 from 11.28.76 as when i try to install this version it does not let me install it.
Hi folks,Just a quick question. Why are some of the entries in the history italicized? Thanks!

Hi, We have a Windows Cluster File Server with multiple sub-clients.Does the ‘default’ sub-client auto detect feature applies here ?The backup for the default subclient fails with hits error - “ Configured contect does not exist “.the content is set as in any other default subclient - “\“ Thanks Thanks
Hello,we have a set of auxiliary copies which replicate the data that we backup on-premises with our own CommCell server to a cloud-based mediaagent connected to an S3 repository. The primary copy is done right, and in time, however, auxiliary copies never reach the end, instead we are constantly getting 13:138 error codes until the task fails. These are the details: Error Code [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [13:138] [40:109] Error occurred while processing chunk [1171846] in media [V_201937], at the time of error in library [Eseries2800] and mount path [[win-backup] C:\Librerias\Eseries\Vol07], for storage policy [Oracle] Unable to send the stop data transfer control message to the tail.. Dear Team & Mike Struening, We are facing auxcopy completed with error issue last few months, We dont have Tape backup. We are facing below error:- Please help us to resolve the issue.
Hi,i have created a new V2 Virtual Server Agent sublient to backup my vCenter VMs.I miss this option like you see at the screenshot. In my V1 Virtual Server Agent i see this option. Is this normal? I set this option because i backup my fileserver and i want to have the possibility to restore single files from tape. Collect File DetailsSelect this option to collect file and folder information as part of streaming backups and IntelliSnap backup copies. Use this option when creating a copy for tape storage, because file and folder information is required when recovering files from tape.RegardsDennis
Hello, just one question:If Commvault WORM copy with Dell Powerscale/Isilon Smartlock is enabled, will the data be pruned after the retention of the copy has met? Thank you.Regards,Thomas

Good Morning All, i have an question regarding the download aof dr backups from the cloud.commvault.com portal in case of DR. We are using the feature Uploading DR Backups to Metallic Cloud. So in the case when all services are offline included the exchange or mailing function wich option we have to get the dr backup from commvault ? As per documentation Requesting Download Access for DR Backup SET Folders of a CommCell Environment (commvault.com) after the login and the download request an mail will send. But in case that the mailing is not working what can we do ? Is it possible to create an user account in the cloud.commvault.com with an external mail adress so that we have access to the dr backups incase that mailing on prod site is not working ? If yes it is also possible to do this for casp customers ?
I have a subclient with a single 4.6TB file, that will only get larger. Since it’s one file I don’t think additional data readers are going to help. I’m wondering if anyone has come across this challenge and has some tuning suggestions. The client is Linux and the filesystem of this file is in 4K blocks. Based on that I didn’t think increasing network agents from 2 to 4 or increasing application read size to say 4MB would help but I tried anyway and no increase in performance during testing. The target storage does dedup and compression, so it’s currently off at the client level.
Seems I don’t see this option during SP creation. I also don’t see any information about this in the rest API docs.I’m referring to this option.
Good Day Dear Community,I have a customer having several CommCells that they are using a main CommCell to manage all licenses of their CommCells. So I could not figure out if this is through a Global CommCell or a GRC (Global ComMCell Repository). But now I need to do a hardware refresh of their main CommServe. So either if they’re using GRC or Global, is the CommServe hardware refresh the same as a traditional CommServe? Or is there something else I should be aware of?I plan on using a simple backup/restore of the CommServe server on a server with same hostname/IP.Many thanks in advance for your input.
