I have LTO 7 tapes from another Commcell that I’d like to format and use in our new Commcell. Is it possible to Format / erase these tapes and import them into the new Commcell?

Hello all,I would like to discuss the different options for a CommCell separation:our customer is divided into different business units. Their licenses are currently installed in shared environments (commcell, mediaagents, disk and tape libraries, all shared). NOTE: deduplication is not used and would be enabled after the migration.Each business unit must now have an independent commcell.  So my first option would be asking Commvault to separate the licenses by business unit, perform a fresh install for each new commcell, and configure their respective clients. But old backup data (especially from tape) would remain at the original Commcell, which i must not depend on. Question:How could I move old backup data from the original CommCell to the new ones. This is moving some backup data to a new comcell, some other backup data to another new commcell and so on.Second option would be performing the Commcell MIgration process. Hi, I made a backup configuration of SAP Hana. But when I start backup I get an error like below. This error persists for a while. But then it starts taking backups. After a while, the last update time of the job I started due to this error is getting longer and the backup does not continue. I think it is related to the codes executed on SAP Hana and unfortunately my company does not have HANA Admin. Has anyone encountered this error?  Regards.Hamza. 

While trying to figure out how to gather BET for charging purposes I noticed that the size on disk as displayed both in Command Center and CommCell console for cloud libraries to be incorrect. I have opened a ticket for it and in particular referred to S3 buckets, but I was wondering it other customers see the same and if it also occurs on libraries using Microsoft Azure Storage or other types/vendors. Please comment in case you see identify the same. I noticed it while running FR26 and FR28 (2022e).

Please your valuable help, as I am trying to install commvault on the following client with the roles of: MediaAgent. FileSystem, File System Core. This client meets all the requirements correctly, but I get the following error: "Error: Failed to install File System Core with error code 0x80070643."I am also attaching the logs for your review.Thank you very much for your help. long story short story we observe error “The parameter used for the current operation is not supported by the Operating System, OS Drivers or the underlying Hardware” in our environment  It started few months ago and from this time it is more and more extensive. It already “survived” few MR updates First thought that is connected with some backup types but it already spread to ddb backup or index backup ...also exist in FS backup or vmware backup ...Often see tat also inside AUX copies  or in livesync replication  Second thought that mine MA’s OS is guilty so we changed many MA’s from 2012r2 to 2016 or even 2019 ….not help ….also play with many options from OS which not help also Next thought went to base where we store backups which s CIFS shares on Synology (especially that no so long ago we changed OS on them to DSM7 (from previous DSM6) . Here we also checked many things as for example blocking to use SMB3 and use only SMB2 ….no helped ...strange is fact that we have many diffrent

Planning/doing a HW and OS refresh for all CS’s. Best practice for security is to separate IIS from the CommServe if reading latest recommendations correctly. Does the Webserver require an instance of it installed for every CommCell it talks to?I read this thread on the topic but it doesn’t seem to speak to multi-instances.Also, referring to this webserver requirements page, I thought the concept of security was to separate the DB from IIS. That page infers that the DB must be installed on the Webserver???Can you guys clarify A) whether splitting IIS off requires MSSQL locally and B) multi-CommCell’s require separate webserver instances or VMs? thanks!

Hello Commvault,Is there any option to proceed ad-hoc backup for a specific Azure VM?When I try to do this, I see that Commvault starts a backup for all Azure VM’s that are members in the group!So, Im looking a workaround to backup only a specific Azure VM, not all it’s group. Please for your feedback,Nikos

I recently updated v9 to v11 and the next day I got this error “62:224 Failed to get media information for the volume. Failed to mount media with unique ID” and the backup didn’t run as scheduled. I can’t even restore anything.

  I had enabled the enable reply via email and had updated the Email Approval details in the Workflow as mentioned in https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/60276_enabling_reply_via_email_for_userinput_activity.html Now the workflow is not sending the approval mail I’m getting the following error : javax.mail.internet.AddressException: Missing final ‘@domain’ in string “Test” As its a predefined workflow , I’m unable to find this Please help me where do we need to make the update  Where do i set the Reply to mail id?  

Hi All,We are trying to change retention on Full jobs that ran over this weekend due to some requirement, we would like to know if we manually right click the job and change the retention on each Full job to “infinite”, will it also make the change to retention on the incremental jobs dependent on this full jobs?Based on commvault documentation they mention as below for incremental jobs.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/58452_manual_retention_end_time_for_job.html“Important: The retention time specified here, applies only to the selected job and does not apply to any dependent jobs. So I’m trying to run a REST api call to get all current running jobs.  I’m ultimately try to get to the same state that the Command Center shows for it’s active jobs.I can run the following which gets me the active backup jobs, but does not show anything else:curl -ks --location --request GET "https://commserve/webconsole/api/Job?jobCategory=Active&jobFilter="The jobfilter options (https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/105923_jobfilter_parameter_values.html) don’t seem to  have an effect.  Setting ALLOPS doesn’t get everything (in fact hides running backup jobs).   I’ve tried using DDBOPS when there is DDB activity going on and that doesn’t give a response either.Is there something I’m missing here?My end state is just trying to determine at a point in time that there is nothing Running/Waited/Queued/Pending so that I can trip off other tasks (OS level patching), so if there is another way to do that I’m open to that as well. 

Recently installed the commvault client on a linux file server. The admin of that server noticed that two files are taking up quite a bit of space on the boot drive. Files DCInc.cvf and DCTot.cvf which are in /opt/commvault/iDataAgent64/jobResults/2/2009. They are taking up nearly 18GB of space. I haven’t found a doc telling me what they are used for yet. Anyone have an idea what they are used for and if they will continue to grow? 

I hope I’m not asking an obvious question ...Scenario:Let's say we’re running Synthetic fulls on the weekend, incrementals daily/hourly on a Windows server that has Filesystem+MSSQL backups.  Suddenly (and without warning) on a Friday evening, the server is decommissioned by the owner (maybe it was thrown into a volcano, so it cannot be turned on for a final backup). We have incrementals all week for the server, but no recent last full to back up to tape.Is there a way (or any gotchas, or special settings to properly do this) to roll all these incrementals up into  Synthetic full jobs (for each subclient) if the underlying server (and CommVault client installation on that server) no longer exists? Isn’t a Synthetic full basically just a rollup of the incrementals already in commvault and in theory we shouldn’t need the client or server to exist to roll them up into a Syn full?

I cannot use the client list because we have duplicates with the same hostname. I need a query or even a rest api call that can get this information. thanks.Chris.

I have a customer who has 15 million files in a CIFS share and the size of each share is 2TB.   They have about 111 shares that we need to backup via CIFS in Commvault. Customer has two XL Windows media agents running 11.28.24.  Both media agents are also use as access nodes.   We ran a backup with the default setting, and it took about 40+ hours to complete a full backup on a share.   We adjusted the data readers from 4 to 25 to 50 and even to 100.  We’re still not getting the time we need to meet RPO.   Incremental are also taking too long to complete.  Last one finished at 17 hours with 25 data readersQuestion is what is Commvault’s recommendation with backing up  large number of small files for a CIFS environment?    Also SnapDiff is not supported in this environment since they are running ONTAP 9.10.1P5. Block based and Snapshot are also not an option here. Thanks in advance!

Hey all, short question :) Is there any “normal” option to change the start website ?  We had commserve and webserver on same host. Wenn you open the url https://hostmae/ you are redidirected to command center.  Is there any posibility that the default page is the webconsole ?  I tested the landing page settings but thats still the command center.  I had the idear to stop tomcat renamne or remove  index.jsp and add an custom url. But maybe there is an better setting inside of command center or java gui or maybe an simple regkey.

Hi, The service account for AppAware SQL backup is required to be Local Admin in the Database Server as well as have the sysadmin role in SQL. To me it is not clear if the requirement for Local Admin is to be permanent and for other operations than just the initial software/agent installation. For one customer the service account was automatically removed from Local Admin whitin 24hrs, and the backups still runs fine.  I would suppose that once the agent is registered additional software and updates are pushed by Commvault through the local system as for all clients. Reason for asking is that the customer needs to request that service accounts for AppAware are added in the automatic AD-admin configuration, and they would want to know for which purpose. To summarise, is the local admin needed for anything else but the initial software installation in the AppAware feature for SQL?  Regards,Patrik

The data in the source remains without growing, but in the backup there is a giant growth.Almost all the data is Oracle Database, and we need to get some reports of this growth.
