Hello everyone,I need to configure two additional jump servers to open the netx.jar file and access the console.The Commvault infrastructure in place has separate servers for Commserve, Webserver and MediaAgents.Using the 'Port Requirements for Commvault' documentation page, I already opened the following ports :- Jump > WebServer. TCP 80-81-443- Jump > CommServe. TCP 8401But it seems it's not enough to have this properly working.SSO is not properly recognized, and none of them is going to the point of opening the console.I'm probably still missing a few ports. Could you please help me pinpoint which ones are still missing ?

Hi All, we are running vsa backups ( vmware ) with indexv2 . During all synthfull backup jobs ( running every week ) we get for each vm an index restore job.  Operation Type: Index RestoreiDataAgent: CommServe ManagementJob Started From: Native Application InterfaceJob Started By: System The job restored 0 objects I checked alle index reports and health reports but found no error.  Do you have an idear what happend here ? 

We are doing an Active Directory backup on a daily schedule.Though all objects seem to show up in a restore window with the latest timestamp, the Microsoft tool>repadmin.exe /showbackupshows old timestamps, as if there has never ran an AD backup.Has anyone else encountered this discrepancy? Is this by design or a misconfiguration on our side?Thanks for any suggestions.Mark 

HiIs there a way to assign Virtual VM’s to a ‘Null’ subclient so theyDont get backed up and Dont fall through to the default subclient I could use a subclient with Activity disabled, but that raises a second (smaller problem)  The other option (But it doesnt seem to work) is to have a Wildcard filter all VMs for a “Null’ subclient , but a single wildcard is not possible, but creating a few regex [a-z]* OR’d with [0-9]* could work 

Customer/Partner needs to migrate Oracle VM (OVM )  from Oracle VM to Vsphere ESXi. 1. Since Commvault doesn’t support cross platform conversion from OVM to Vsphere , can we take the full filesystem + system state backup of the OVM ( not vm image or intelligent snap ) and use virtualize me option to restore it to Vsphere ? 2.  When we use virtualize me option to take backup do I need to take one single full backup as a single Job, or can we take a Full backup earlier ( few days before ) and take a incremental backup on the  actual day of cut over and execute the restore. Does virtualize me supports a full + incremental backup taken by two separate backup job in different time to allow restoration . If yes this will help us to take a full backup earlier and use a quick incremental backup to reduce migration time at the actual cut over day.

Hi AllI have a central vCenter that manages multiple Sites, hosting their own ESX Servers, Storage and all. We operate a dedicated MediaAgent in each of these Sites as well as one or more VMs acting as vProxy/FileBrowseEnabler. So far Backups go entirely through the MediaAgents as they are the only ones able to communicate with vCenter to query Inventory and manage Snapshots. Now we would like to utilize the vProxy VMs as dedicated Worker Nodes, reading and processing vmdks and co. When I add them as access nodes they either are not used at all or cause errors as they cannot (and shall not) communicate with vCenter.We’d like to have the MediaAgent as Management Node only and the vProxies doing all the work. Devide and conquer in a way. Any way to specifically mark or lock down which tasks a certain Machine can execute on a given Subclient or Instance?Running FR24, considering upgrade to FR28 if that makes a difference.Thanks,Stefan

Hi,Sometimes during deployment on Linux machines installer fails to start. Sometimes after some digging I can chase it down to noexec policy on /tmp and/or /home directory. There is a way to change default tmp directory using push installation, there is a unixTempDirectory property in xml file passed during silent installation, but is there a parameter I can pass to override this during local, interactive installation using cvpkgadd?

HiI’m having some troubles with Teams backup in particular when customer enabled MFA after express configuration for the global admin account, backup stopped working - the Azure app has invalid token status.I’ve got a support involved in this and among other things they recommend to: Exclude the service accounts that are created by the express configuration from the following policies: Modern authentication policies Automatic password reset policies https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/134545_use_express_configuration_option_in_office_365_guided_setup_for_teams.html I don’t believe that would be the issue because it worked before and stopped after enabling MFA for global admin but despite this I would like to check this. I’ve asked some folks about this but no one can tell me what exactly is  Modern authentication policies Automatic password reset policies and where to find this in Azure portal. Can anyone share some more light about where I can find this? Cheer

Hello all, I have some auxiliaries copies with deduplication and for some ddbs (not all) of these copies i have a partition offline, i cant see the reason for this because the configuration is the same between the 2 partitions, and i have some ddbs where this media agent is online.This is an example where the partition is offline:  This an example where the same media agents have a partitioned ddb and they are both online: What more can i see to make easy to understand what i am doing wrong? Regards,João Amaral

Hi All, is it correct that's not possible to backup all file version during OneDrive backup ?  https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/130942_backups_for_onedrive_for_business.html  You can back up only the latest version of a file from the OneDrive for Business user account. If you back up the same file multiple times, then different versions of that file appear in the Browse window.  In the SharePoint contents it is possible. 

We have deployed the Elasticsearch Backup and Restore workflows and found that the URL references within them are using http://. We prefer to use encryption so is it as simple as changing the (4 in Backup / 13 in Restore) actions from http:// to https:// ?

I have problems if i have group with whitespace on the name. IE: I have a Group with Name “Staff  Q00125: Cloud Apps” If I write only “Staff” in the textbox the group in returned while writing “Staff Q” nothing is returned.How can search for groups with whitespace?There is any possibility to use wildcard characters? I have an Auxcopy Source (HYperscale-X), destination (Hy7perscale). I have max numbers of readers set and multiple mount paths set on the Copy. I have thousands of jobs in the Auxcopy, yet only one stream gets allocated. What am I missing?

Hello all, is it possible to backup locked files in OpenVMS? Backup is running, but some files failed. I found an old manual:You can instruct the backup procedure to save open files by using the /IGNORE=INTERLOCK qualifier on the BACKUP command. When you use the /IGNORE=INTERLOCK qualifier, the contents of the file at the moment of the backup are saved.The /IGNORE=INTERLOCK qualifier is useful for files that are constantly open (and would therefore not otherwise be saved). However, you must recognize that you might be saving inconsistent data, depending on the applications that are writing to the open files (for example, open application transactions or file data cached in memory). Also, because of the way BACKUP scans directories, any activity in a directory (such as creating or deleting files) can cause files to be excluded from the backup. I’m having problems with DDBBackup jobs at my DR site.  I changed the configuration from every 6 hours to once per day but the backup from yesterday is still running and I’m at the 22 hour point.  I’d like to kill this job and let a fresh one start but I understand that the DDBBackup uses snapshots and I’m afraid that if I kill it there won’t be a proper snapshot cleanup.  Is it OK to kill a DDBBackup job that’s been running almost a long time?Ken

Hello, We are implementing a Commvault environnement and are trying to achieve the following :Backup file system of VMs with RDM attachedWe only want to backup virtual machine and FS. E.G the vmware object/config and the C:\ drive. Our goal is to restore a VM like a normal one, without the RDM, then re-attach the RDM (or a new RDM and restore data from a file level backup. It should work for standalone VM with RDM, as SCSI controller is in virtual compatibility mode.But for clustered VMs with RDM, the SCSI is in physical compatibility mode, and it seems to prevent us from backup/restore thoses VMs. What is the best practice for this type of backup/restore jobs ?Thanks

Afternoon folksI have an auxiliary copy that backs up to tape - I have deleted all of the existing jobs on the tape media with the hope of starting the backup chain from scratch. However, since deleting the backup jobs, if I go back to the storage policy and right click on the tape auxiliary copy and view “media not copied” it is blank. I was expecting to see all backup jobs for the backup period that I have selected.Is it possible for me to “restart the schedule” so to speak without deleting the auxiliary job? TIA
