Hi,I am looking for a way to automaticly abort a running job or at least start a workflow (with which I then abort the job) when a specific error occurs in a certain storage policy. Is this possible in CommVault?The background is that every 10-12 days there is an issue with the VMWare backup copy (“VDDK thread timeout, possible VDDK deadlock encountered”), and afterwards, all VMs are backed up very slowly using only NBD. After restarting the job, the NAS transport mode is used again (at least for 95% of the VMs).Best regardsFrank

Hi,I have created a new SP and Dedup DB and assigned it to an existing MA. Created a new Index as well.Selected a particular client machine that was connected to this MA and changed the SP on this client to the newly created SP however after clicking on Full Backup the system by default shows Incremental in the Job Window and fails with an error ‘Index Restore” - There is no active controller for this device. For some reason it is not running a full backup. Am I missing a step or two somewhere?Env - Commvaut 10 R2 Simpana

Some years back we ran into a problem with cpu usage spiking during backups and someone in commvault suggested an additional setting that limited cpu usage it leveraged the OS to prevent cpu usage going through the roof and was expressed in percentage. i forget the name of the additional setting. Can someone help?thanks.

Hi,I have 11.24 release installed and plan upgrade to 11.28 (in this release Windows Server 2012-2012 R2 depreciated). Could you say please:1) What will happen with agents which are installed on depreciated OS  after Commserve and media agents will be updated to 11.28, will it continue to work normally?2) What will happen with support if I have Commserve version 11.28 but clients run 11.24 (which also is still under support and supports older OS)? Hi everyone, I have some questions about continous replica (vaio).The first question is about RPO: what is the minimum RPO that can be achieved with the vaio replica? Can it also be of seconds? And the retention of how many hours or days is it?The second is about the issue described here: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/disaster_recovery/106456_known_issues_for_continuous_replication_in_command_center.html“If a virtual machine is replicated to a destination site and you perform a restore operation for the VM at the destination site, the replicated VM and the restored VM have the same UUID” What exatly mean? Do I have to answer “I copied” everytime I power on a replica vm? Thank you

Hi All,Just to check what is the highest limit or threshold for an extra large commserve? The following is extracted from documentation.commvault.Supports up to 10,000 servers, or 20,000 virtual machines, or 50,000 laptops in a single CommCell environment.So in my customer environment , we are having 10000 office 365 mailboxes/users ( looking to grow to 30000 in next 2 years ),3000 Vms and 300 physical servers. Can our extra large commserve able to support the above assets ? I am worry about the scaling of the 0365 mailboxes. Each 0365 mailbox is treated as 1 server entity as well

please support , an incremental backup hanged and does not open streams however full and archive log backup is running normally

Hi all,do you have any idea how to troubleshoot this issue - While accessing a drive the Serial Number [xxx] is different from expected Serial Number [yyy] It seems, that there is a mismatch in communication between two tape drives and the library. We have already tried to deconfigure/configure tape library within Commvault without success.

Command center is not loading the many information and report as well. can see below error on the logs.  HI Team,We got a query from DBA team as TempDB monitoring Job is running and its random called by CV, This Job is calling 2 procs in CV and they are the one using OLE Automation, So, disabling won’t help either since it’s externally called. What to do with this job if we keep OLE Automation disabled. do we need to disable OLE automation on commserver and any idea why this job is running on commserve ?  

Currently, we have our AD servers backing up via the iDataAgent using a service account with domain admin permissions. This fact is making our compliance team very nervous.  Has anyone had any success performing these types of backups using a domain user with a more restrictive role?AD Setup

Hello, I am wondering what this report means, i sow another topic about its. And if you make multi MP on the same drive then the calculation of storage might be wrong. We have 2 Libraries and we using 4 MA's. For each LUN i create seperate MP at disklibrary/name of MP At the fstab configuration the 1 LUN not mounted on 2 differents MP's. So what does this reports means ?    We are using 4 MA's and 2 libraries. MA a and b sharing MP's and c and d sharing aswell

As part of my normal housekeeping, I keep a close eye on my DDB’s. I’ve learned enough lessons over the years to look closely at pending delete records, run regular DDB verifications, and purge orphan files.Recently we have had two separate issues where physical pruning of data was not occurring on the physical Storage.The first was a corruption of Storage Permissions on our Isilon that prevent physical pruning.The second was related to corrupt records in the DDB that prevented physical pruning.In both cases the DDB looked healthy. None of the regular indicators such as a high “Number of Pending Prunable  Records” showed a problem. The graphs showed significant drops in Primary and Secondary Blocks.Both these problems had been there for a long period of time and were only detected because we were looking for an anomaly. In the second case  we were fortunate that we were carry out bulk deletes and some activity occurred that would not have happened

Im looking for a way to Aux copy (via selective copy)? only for specific jobs.For example: only a full VM job.I know that I can “filter” aux copies for All Fulls, Daily Fulls, Monthly Fulls etc, but I need actually to aux copy only for specific jobs!The source copy is a Disk and the destination is a Blob Storage.Is there any way to do it?I see an option to “Do not Automatically select jobs”, but Im not sure how it works. 

When I do a Browse and Restore, I’m getting the message “Folder size shown is approximate.  Please select Compute folder size option from browse options for accurate size”.Can anyone tell me how to navigate to this option?  I don’t see in anywhere within the Control Panel.ThanksKen

Hello,I’m looking for a way to set a timeout for PreBackup and PostBackup process.My expectation was a default timeout of 600 seconds. Therefore I created a batch script which has a wait of 700 seconds included. Commvault was patiently waiting for the script to finish, but I would like to have a timeout after which Commvault fails the job.Does anybody know a way to set such a timeout? I could not find any hint on this and also no additional setting.

Good Day,we recently migrated a bunch of Backupjobs from primary Copy to Secondary-Copy (Tape) and deleted the jobs in the primary Copy.Due to a demand from the project, we need the copied backup jobs back in the primary pool.Unfortunately I am not able to select the storagepool in a thirdcopy in the storagepolicy → create new copy.Is there a way to migrate the jobs back?Best regards

Hi! Wondering if it is possible to have a remote Commserve used in a Livesync configuation communicate back to the initial Commserve via a deployed Network Gateway or Network Proxy Appliance? All agents, media agents at site will use the Network Gateway but is it possible for the remote Commserve to communicate through it as well? 

i know that we are currently using OpenJDK for opening the commcell in new installations.but seeing as Oracle is changing their license model, we have been getting qeustions.is this something that will automatically/changed be updated during a new update?or will customers with an old installation need to manually remove and re-install the Commcell? thank you,  kind Regards, Thos Gieskes.
