Hi folks,We want to inform our users that software version 11.32 requires Microsoft .NET 6.0, which reached its End of Support (EOS) on November 12, 2024.📢 Introducing Version 11.32.73 (or higher)This latest update eliminates the reliance on the now-outdated .NET 6.0 and introduces support for the more secure and modern .NET 8 long term support release. Support for this version of .NET expires in November 2026.We strongly recommend that all users of version 11.32 upgrade to 11.32.73 or higher to ensure the best experience and maintain a secure environment. You can download a copy of maintenance release 11.32.73 or higher directly from the support portal, or the store site.
Setup: I have primary and secondary storage locations. Data gets copied from primary to secondary with Aux copies. I have 3 Aux copies that are not tied to global deduplication DDB’s and are instead “using their own DDB” for the Aux copy to the secondary). I’m Looking to add more mount points to my media agents (to add more storage capacity) and I ran across this (copilot answer to “To determine whether a library is part of a Network Storage Pool in Commvault”):A Network Storage Pool is a logical construct that combines: A Disk Library. One or more MediaAgents. A Global Deduplication Policy. When configured, it enables shared access to mount paths across MediaAgents using DataServer-IP transportMy question is: If these Storage policies Aux copy are not tied to a global DDB, then its not part of a Storage pool (this appears to be the case when looking at Storage resources → storage pools as I can see only the Global DDB’s in the pools)? and if so if I add new mount paths to add stor
Hi Team, After upgrading from 11.36.32 to 55 and then 68, MSSQL Job Type is now empty in Job Controller. Will it no longer appear? It was actually useful in some cases. Is there any logical reason to hide this ?
Hi. I’ve created a API script to backup a specific VM. I want to create an alert to send a email after the jobs completes. I used, Add Alert->Job management(data protection), selected everything for Agent type. also Want to just send the alert when the API user is the one starting the job (used token for that).I’ve also selected “Send individual notification for each backed up VM”Anyway, it’s not working.
Hello All,My company has two lines of business and a single CommCell for both. Each line of business has its own virtualization environment with VMware and NAS data, all based on NetApp, with different storage policies for each line and kind. There is only one Media Agent and one DAS disk library on that Media Agent used for all policies, plus a third AirGap library. We use IntelliSnap for both VMware and CIFS. After the NetApp snapshot (for both NAS and VMs), we perform a backup copy for VM and NDMP for CIFS, sending all data to the same DAS disk library with a single mount path, plus Aux copy to AirGap.Now, we want to split that CommCell to separate the lines of business, and we have a new disk library and a new Media Agent ready for the line of business that will be moved to the new CommCell.I’ve reviewed the documentation on CommCell Splitting and CommCell Migration, and I believe Splitting would be the right approach. However, I don't fully understand when and how the backup data
Hi there, im having issue deleting a client, it fails at ProcessRequest in GetAndProcessAuthorization workflow, and im out of ideas why. Both account the requester and the one im accepting the request for deletion are part of master group. Any help is appreciated.
Background: We have 2 media agents at a secondary site that each have a single “data” mount path to storage that we just hit 256 TB on (OS refuses to expand them further, its using 64kb blocks). The media agents have their storage/mount path mapped to that dedicated storage volume (like X:\) and then they also map (in commvault) to the other media agent. So each media agent can read/write to either X:\ on either media agent.Note: All the volumes in commvault are pointing to the same dedicated storage array (that only commvault uses)Questions: Since we cannot expand the existing mount path storage beyond 256 TB for either mount, a few options are being explored:Make a new volume and format it to 128 kb blocks, so it can grow to 512 TB is needed. Then do a “move mount path” of the 256 TB bound volume to the 512TB bound one. result: we have a single mount point per media agent, and it just is really big. using 128 kb blocks seems like a “probably don’t want to do” from some online thing
Hi,I`m reviewing some of the statistics within the Health Report and one of them is the Scale Statistics which in my case are showing the following; It recommends to run a “DBMaint -recommended” but my questions are;1- Considering I will be upgrading to 11.36 soon. Do I still run the DBmaintenance as recommend separate prior the upgrade or simple cheking the box for DB Maintenance during the upgrade covers it all?2- Proactive DBMaintenance: says it tries to defrag indexes when it reaches certain criterias. Are those criterias documented available to customers? Any alerts that can be enabled in case it fails?3- It shows Commserv DB is 151GB and tempdb and log “too large” - are there published parameters that specify what too large is?4- Is there anything such as a too large CSDB? When is it recommended to spin up a new CS instance? Any documentation on this? Thanks in advance.
Hi Team, We have our AWS environment with 90% of Windows base servers and 10% Linux based servers. We have recommended our customer to use Linux base Media Agents and Linux base Access nodesMy question is will Linux base access node be able to perform file level recovery for snapshot base backup. Performing mount activity for Windows snapshot backup on Linux Access Node will work or not. Also please recommend Commvault best practices for the same.
Hi Experts,In one of my customer, Azure VM streaming backups along with iDA for several workloads being used. I was referring the possibilities to implement Azure VM intellisnap backup and going through some documentation. In context of feasibility study, I am unable to find limitations for performance, granular restores from Snap and Backup Copy both covering for Azure VM snapshot backup and iDA’s on AZURE VM’s like SAP, Oracle, PGsql, MYSQL, MS-SQL. Need community help pointing me to the relevant stuff. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Hi Guys,,,I am facing issues in multiple auxilliary copies. I am getting below error in the Aux copies every now and then. Error Code: [19:599]Description: Loss of control process CVJobReplicator.exe. Possible causes: 1. The control process has unexpectedly died. Check crash dump or core file. 2. The communication to the control process machine abc.com might have gone down due to network errors. 3. If the machine abc.com is a cluster, it may have failed over. 4. The machine abc.com may have rebooted. 5. Antivirus/Malware software may be blocking the process. We are using Storeonce to replicate the primary snaps to the remote copy.Kindly help here. Hello all,Do you have experience with Commvault Cloud Air Gap Protect storage with multiple containers? For example if I have 40TB total space, what will happen if I will create 3 libraries, how available space will be distributed between all 3 libraries. Will it be dynamically assigned, or strictly 40/3 = 13,3 TB for each?
Have a dark-site customer that cannot upload to cloud.commvault.com. They would like to not have the security alert be red all the time for Health tile - Security Assessment - Platform Security - DR backup.Configured to the cloud makes it green, but since they cannot....Is there a way to disable that alerting or review? The below is from a CS that has it configured and is green/good.
Hi Expert Team,End customer environment is secure site. So they cannot whitelist metallic cloud URLs for storing phase1 of DR backup. Currently the phase1 of DR backup writes to local disk and phase2 goes to commserveDR policy which is HPE catalyst. I believe we cannot recover from HPE Catalyst using mediaexplorer tool(This I read from other community article). We cant even use Network path for phase1. So we are planning for creating a filesystem backup of phase1 backup folder(SET**) on disk library. If we do this way can we retrieve the DR dump files using mediaexplorer tool? Please advise. commvault DR backup retrieving from disk library using MediaExplorerhttps://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/expert/cataloging_media_using_media_explorer.html

Are there any issues manually deleting older versions of VDDK from the Base\VMWARE folder? Our Access Nodes are being pinged for multiple libcurl and sqlite3 vulnerabilities on account of having 11 different VDDK versions.
I am looking at creating a storage policy for SQL/Oracle Logs Backups and I do see the the Java GUI gives me the option for a Log Storage Policy as well as it describes its functionalities in the documentation (https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/enabling_log_storage_policy.html).If I attempt to instead create a "Plan", it seems like the option does not exists. Am I missing anything? What is the recommended approach for Log Backups when it comes to the different management interfaces? Should Logs have its own Policy always? Any documentation available that describes the best practices for that particular purpose? In the second screen shot, there would be a list of DDB storage pools. Considering Logs are not Dedup, should that just be unchecked I assume? Thanks
Dear Vaulters,I would like to understand how retention policies work for both on-premises Exchange mailboxes and O365 cloud applications. If we configure an O365 plan or an Exchange Archiver plan to retain deleted messages for 5 years, I understand that once the retention period is reached, the index is dropped—making the data non-browsable and non-restorable.My question is: What happens to the underlying data in storage? Will it be pruned as per the retention settings, or will it remain in storage indefinitely?how it reacts for on prem exchange mailboxhow it reacts for other cloud apps if I use the same O365 plansLooking forward to your clarification.Best regards,Ananth
Hi Community,we have Operating Instances licenses and Virtualization licenses and we also doing a backup from an S3 Storage as a source. If we backup the S3, this is counted in the Backup and Recovery for Unstructured Data but we not purchased anything this way.The Backup works - is this intended ?Does anybody know what belongs where in this case ?
Dear Vaulters, I have an issue with DR backups; we have configured the DR backup to keep only 12 Metadata backup, Then we began to see that failed DR backups are not deleted from their destination, which causes Space issue whereas all newer successfull DR backup are there Need your suggestions to get rid of failed jobs data and keep only the successfull ones. Hi,In order to use the Rest APIS we need to setup SSL on our platform. It is unclear where to actually put the certificate (IIS / Tomcat). Could someone confirm it has to be done on Tomcat?V 11.36. This page is pointing to IIS configuration : https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/rest_api_overview.htmlWhereas this page explains out to put a SSL cert on tomcat :https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/configuring_secured_access_for_web_applications.html Regards,
I ran the “Subclients without Secondary Copies” report and there are several records that are there. It appears in only 2 cases that a subclient was not associated with any aux/secondary copies, and in several more cases there are associations in secondary copies that are still “there” but for delicensed clients. Also: It appears it is occurring with clients/subclients tied to just *one* of my storage policies. All other clients/subclients associated with all my other storage policies look “ok” (and are not showing up on this report).I was under the impression that once you associated a client to a storage policy, the “association” of the client to the secondary copies happened automatically. And when you delicensed a client, the associations were automatically removed. Is this true/supposed to happen always or are there caveats to these assumptions?I’m feeling there is a config or something ‘special” about this single storage policy (it is very old) but I don’t know what it would be t
Can PST ingestion be used on a user mailbox subclient in 11.32?I setup an Office 365 app, Exchange Online, within the Command Center. The app is backing up my Office 365 user mailboxes within my cloud tenant. I also have old on-prem mail servers and PST files from other mail severs I’m wanting to include in the user mailbox backup. This led me to PST Ingestion within the documentation. I was under the impression when setting up the user mailbox backup that operated the same way as setting up a user mailbox client in the Commcell as an Exchange Online through on-prem active directory and that PST ingestion could be added to the user mailbox subclient. However, when I go to subclient, navigate over to the PST Ingestion tab in the Commcell, I get no options when right-clicking in the client space. I wasn’t sure if this was a problem with my Commcell GUI so I tried it on another node with the Commcell installed and still nothing. Is the way I setup this user mailbox subclient through the Com
