I am following the documentation on installing with a self-extracting exe file, and using a custom answer file: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/installing_windows_custom_package_configured_as_self_extracting_executable_file.htmlWhen I run the command CustomPackageName.exe /install /play install.xml it asks me the path to extract to, default being C:\Program Files\Commvault\installerBut then it doesn’t install, and if I look at the logs, it is because the xml isn’t in that location: ### ### ### - CommandLine: "C:\Program Files\Commvault\installer\Setup.exe" /play installnew.xml ### ### ### - User input file location: [C:\Program Files\Commvault\installer\installnew.xml] ### ### ### - Warning: User input file does not exist. I would like to use the default location and not have to change it, to make the process as simple as possible.

Users choice allows only map-based restore. Nothing to restore.  

Hello, I tried to restore of PostgreSQL in GCP with below additional settings added at entity level in 11.36, but it seems that commvault ignores them and try regular restore:bPGRestoreNoACLbPGRestoreNoOwner Has anyone encountered issue with these options? Regards,Marcin

Hi, We are adding a mount path to an existing disk library on a linux media agent  that has the ransomware protection enabled. It looks like it is not beeing automatically associated with the selinux commvault context “cvstorage” the other volume is. We did te activation procedure again after adding the volume with no success. The fstab is not updated and the ‘mount | grep “^/” show that the initial volume is mounted with context “context=system_u:object_r:cvstorage_t:s0” and the newly added volume “seclabel”.Is there a specific pocedure for enabling the ransomware protection on a newly added volume? 

Hi, We are facing a strange behaviour with our auxcopy process. All week when we copy some incremental backups we are achieving pretty good throughputs but when it comes to weekly Synthetic fulls, for the same amount of data, the troughtputs are 10 times slower.We plan on migrating our VSA to indexing V2 hoping it could help.Any other ideas are welcome.Thx in advance  

Hello, We currently use a Physical Tape Library (PTL) for secondary copies with long-term retention with a single generation of tape drives: LTO-7. Our plan is to upgrade the PTL and install LTO-9 or LTO-10 drives alongside the current LTO-7 ones. The main reason is the amount of tapes in long-term retention that would be very costly to copy over to LTO-9/10. Since neither LTO-9, nor LTO-10 is compatible with LTO-7, we would need to keep some LTO-7 drives to read from LTO-7 media alongside the new drives. Is Commvault capable to recognize the LTO generation and use the compatible drives and if not, would it be possible to configure this manually so that the correct drive is used for the tape operations? We run v11.32. Thank you,Zoltan 

Good morning,I’m facing the same problem as it was resolved in I know this issue in production environment, where a commserve was not turned on for a long time, protecting against false dataaging. The solution to have a GUI Process manager opened and entering the string (I acknowledge and so on) is not available on my DEV-Env where I only use a UnixCommserver with the bash.I tried to get the parameter within the commandline process manager commvault -all (and e.g. - I acknowledge and so on)but unfortunately it is not available.Did anyone have this problem as well?Best regards

Good day I would like to ask if there are any concerns with the proposed solution we’re looking into.I have a very small environment that is moving from TSM to Commvault. Due to its size, the Commserve and Media Agent will be installed on the same server.I need to import TSM (IBM Spectrum Protect) backup data into Commvault. I need to create a staging server to handle this task.I don’t want to install the TSM agent on the Commserve/Media Agent server. Would there be any concerns with installing the MS Hyper-V component on the Commserve/Media Server and hosting 2 x VM’s to run the migration? One VM will be Windows for Windows Data and the other Linux for the Linux Data. Once all the data has been migrated into Commvault, the two VM’s will be decommissioned.We are a little short on hardware resources, hence this idea. Thanks,Mauro

I am looking to configure Syslog Forwarding for Audit Trail and Alerts and was wondering what alerts are going to be forwarded, as there doesn’t seem to be a specific Alert Notification Type for Syslog. On the assumption that all Alerts are forwarded, is there an existing CMR to provide granular control?

I am currently exploring the option to use the workflow “Moving Clients from a Full Deduplication Database to a New Deduplication Database”I wanted to ask if I have to use this one, does thisReduce the primary record/unique blocks from the DDB I am moving away from? Follow up to question 1, does the primary record/unique blocks increase on the DDB I am moving to? is there going to be a re baselining happening? How to Limit user access on Archived Message, for example on old outlook add-In with content store i was able to enable offline mode and cache only last 3 months. now this add-In deprecated for new outlook version. is there a way to control what user can see on his outlook, while if he wants to figure out all archived messages i can direct him to use web console.   Thanks,

We have a plan to perform BW Development system refresh with production data, but production system is having data from 10 years which is unnecessary to have in development system.              So here is my question,Is there any way to restrict the data of only 2 years from production to development during restore? Do you know about the tool SAP TDMS(Test Data Migration Server) used for required data transformation? in combination with commvault maybe someone have an idear ?

Hi Vaulters,I have 1200+ filesystem servers where daily filesystem backup is scheduled. Is there a ways to delete the files from the client machine automatically once the backup is completed (Only successful files).? I am trying new ways in automation and am stuck here. Hello Commvault community, In one of our customer environments, we currently have a small setup with a dedicated CommServe (CS) and a separate MediaAgent (MA) handling Office 365 backups.We now have a request to "merge" the CommServe role into the existing MediaAgent system, effectively combining both roles on a single machine.I'm aware that it's generally not recommended to run the CommServe and MediaAgent roles on the same system, as per Commvault best practices, due to potential performance and scalability issues. However, is there any supported way to make this happen, especially in a small environment?Is this scenario technically possible, and if so, what steps or considerations should we follow? I would greatly appreciate your feedback, experiences, or any references to documentation that could help.Thank you in advance!Nikos

Hi,we have updated to the newest version an creates DR backups.But i can’t delete them. The folders and files are write protected. We tried to delete them with GUI, PS or cmd. But nothing. If we remove the write protection and open it again it is set.Any idea how we can remove the DR folders?RegardsDennis
