Hello Team, I planned to perfom a hardware refresh of a media agent using this procedurehttps://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/performing_mediaagent_recovery.htmlThe media agent has lun attached provided by Netapp Storage  (mount path)I'm confident because I've already done it, but this  MA has a tape library attached. I am checking if it is a DAS or FC(zoning) do you have any tips ? Thanks !  

In RHEL 7 and 8 versions, the system state backup failed with this message during 1-touch full backup and incremental backup.Message: System State Backup Failed: [Error: The following utility is missing from the system [killall]. Hi Commvault experts,I would like to discuss following situation.We need to move the mount paths of the disk library from the current Media Agent to a new one. The mount paths are attached to the Media Agent and appear as local disks; however, they are actually presented/mapped from the storage array as local disks/paths. My question is: how do we move these mount paths to the new Media Agent, when no physical data move is required? It’s simply a matter of re-presenting these mount points to the new Media Agent from Commvault's point of view.Your explanation will be much appreciated!

Hi Commvault experts,I have one more question regarding the Media Agent migration, specifically about the Index Cache. Is it absolutely necessary to move the Index Cache? In some resources, I've read that it might be possible to skip this step. Is that correct? Can the Index Cache be rebuilt automatically during new backup jobs?Also, is the actual process of moving the Index Cache directory simply a copy-paste operation in the operating system?Once the Media Agent migration is complete, I can close all related threads and provide detailed comments.

Hello, I want to expand the current disk storage. How do I find out whether the current Media Agent can connect additional MP or its on the limit?We have 4 node with 2x ssd on each node. But i dont know if we have LARGE or EXTRA LARGEAt the moment we have 2x Libraries with 1PB each

Hello! I have been a Commvault user since 2020, and finally it was time to ask or discuss this feature.Many times when there is an issue with a job, we see the error code xx:xxx (or similar syntax), the error code is highlighted. We can click on it, and it will do a search in the commvault knowledge base. Could be very useful. However..I can remember maybe 2-3 times where the error code link actually showed a relevant article. Most times, there are no articles related to the specific code.. If I remove the special characters, then once in a while I will find something related to the issue, but most times it doesn’t help.Room for improvement.

Hello everybody,AWS Backup is currently offering Full and Incremental level backups when it comes to protect RDS instances on AWS Cloud (Reference: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/USER_WorkingWithAutomatedBackups.html)Using Commvault v11.32, documentation states that Commvault can only perform Full level backup which involves huge cost when doing AWS Native Snapshot protection when it comes to protect RDS instances (Reference: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/backing_up_amazon_rds_instance_group.html)  Is there any way to perform Incremental snapshot of RDS instances in the future using Commvault on AWS ? FYI, I am already aware about the export and dump based backup for RDS instances but those are too inconvenient to restore (for export, it requires an EC2 instance with a configured database to receive the data; for dump based backup, we need a configured database engine on an Access Node or the Media Agent to receive the data, which is a nigh

We have a physical media agent server, that is very old and want to replace it with new physical server. So, we need to migrate / Hardware refresh the media agent server with same hostname and IP.What is the procedure and steps, we need to folow to perform this task smoothly.  

Hi  We tried to active windows 2019 of RO1200 with below doc(https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/what_s_in_box_01.html), we found found there was no Windows Server 2019 Standard Product Key sticker on the top of the server. Is there any way to find the Windows Server 2019 Standard Product Key for RO1200? Thank you in advance for your answer !

Hello, we recently ran through a Security Health Review, with a third-party, and it was advised that we turn on MFA for Commvault.  I worked with our Infosec team and got Okta setup on our Commvault Command Center.However, I was wondering how do I get the Commcell to automatically redirect to Okta when someone is logging into the Commcell, while inside the server, or using the Jar file?I know there is the ‘Login with Command Center’ link, however, I can put my username and password in, and I get in fine (without an Okta prompt).  Is there a way to force the ‘Login’ link?We are on version 11.32.63.Thanks!

Hello Commvault Community, I would like to ask you if you might know which setting or configuration is responsible for refreshing the information in the Index Servers properties in the “Health Check” column (from CommandCenter).  All IndexServers are working and there aren’t problems with them, it's just that it shows an outdated Health Check and the question came up as to why and what might be responsible for it, to take an analysis of why it hasn't been updated.  Enviroment version: 11.34.38 Thanks in advance,Kind RegardsKamil

We are backing up SQL database with TDE encryption. Could we restore the encrypted database to original server or different server without any encrypted key.

Hi Does any one know how to create a a SAP HANA Pseudo-Client in the Commvault Command center?  I am using Commvault 11.34.36, and there it is not possible to use the Commvault Console even the manual are saying, that I shall use it. https://documentation.commvault.com/2024/expert/creating_sap_hana_pseudo_client.html

I have been asked several times, ‘why is the file system on my Linux VM client filling up with logs attributable to Commvault?’ and I am mystified because the VM has never had an agent installed.Has anyone got any suggestions a) why there are log files b) how I can limit them to n days, when the retention is only 31 days anyway?Thanks

​We are try to ingestion job EV to commvault .After the ingestion jobs the mailbox items are seems duplicated i uploads to screenshot about this issue  .Content index jobs was complated before but still have this issue ​ 

if we have warn site auto recovery group and performed a failover , and then fail back , does this delete the created VM in the destination site 

media agent unresponsive during NDMP job start and later job failed with media agent not availble error. Diskliberary is also attached to this media server with internal drives. Our media agent is unresponsive on putty/ping whenever NDMP job schedule runs. and due to this we got media libready offline/online messages and later Jobs failed.After job failed/suspension , media server behave normally and runs other backup job smoothly like exchange/vcenter etc.  This NDMP job was running fine since many months daily but issue started from last two weeks. 

In our enterprise environment, we have a primary media agent we store the backups of all of our servers. Some of these are then copied out to Azure for cloud storage, all are eventually copied to tape, and then we have a completely separate media agent running a different OS than all of our other machines where we keep an aux copy of only the most recent synthetic full of all of our servers. Used to work great, and now is not. Pretty sure I know why, and I am curious if there is a better way to do what I am doing.Previously, we had the retention set to 1 day, 1 cycle which worked fine. We did the aux copy every evening after the main backups completed. After the aux copy there would be two sets of data for the last two days on the media agent until noon the next day when the aging job would run and the earlier day would be purged from the system. Does it required specific ports for SMTP & NTP configuration in commserve?For VMware do we required 902 & 443 ports bi-directional from MA & proxy to ESxi & VCenter servers?Required port details for SQL & FS from Commvault & Media agent?

I am unable to see any access node drop-down list on the “add the cloud account” page while adding the Azure SQLMI database to Commvault. CV version  - 10.34.26

Hi there,Do we have any blocker to prevent to use Linux as Media Agent (MA) or Access Node (AN)? Currently we have some Windows MA & Windows AN and want to migrate them to Linux. I'm not sure about Linux server can do backup / restore job for all type of resource like Windows or we have some dedicated config only work on Windows?
