Trying to do a decoupled installation of the agent on a RHEL server. Can complete the decoupled installation on the client without issue however when going to add the client in Commserve and using the option “Fetch the configuration information from the client that is already installed in decoupled mode” there is no option to tell it to use the Network Gateway that all remote agents connect through. How can this be achieved?
It appears that AD-based Accounts are now subject to account lockout rules - is this an 11.32 feature, or has this been around for a while? Also, is there / is there going to be a method to unlock accounts via the CommCell Console, or am I going to be forced to use the Command Center?

Hello, Our security team has found a vulnerability in Python36. Now I saw that 38 and 39 are also on the CommServe. My question now is how can I clean this up? In the overview of the programs installed in Windows, I don't see anything from Python because it was delivered with Commvault. To solve the problem I would have to get rid of Python36 but I would like to simply delete the folder without consulting here.Is anyone able to help me ?RegardsThomas
I’m being told by support that restoring PST is not possible using legacy indexing. That we must build a new Indexing server using CVSOLR indexing in order to restore PSTs. When did legacy indexing get deprecated? 11.34
Hello everyone,We still have a few public folders running on Exchange on prem and we recently upgraded from Exchange 2013 to 2019. I’ve tried to configure backup but am getting:No service account(s) found for public folder processing. Please assure that a service account is assigned a malibox association with owner permissions on the root and subroot public folders in order to proceed with public folder operations. This looks to be an Exchange issue. Is there documentation anywhere that shows the steps to configure Exchange?ThanksKen
Hi fairly new to Metallic so bear with me please. text files logs are being created in c:\windows\temp and are on a Azure vm with the Metallic file server agent installed, i was wondering if anyone had a idea of what is generating these logs, a service or other.
I’d like to use VSA based File Indexing for a single Windows VM file serverThere used to be a tick box option in the JAVA Console / Subclient setup - But that seems to have disappeared. The Option now is to-Use VM Groups in Command Center easy to do)-But I’m then guided to use ‘Plans’ Is there anyway I can bypass this and use my existing Storage Polices I’m happy to use a plan if needed (as I only want VSA file indexing for a single VM - so this would be ‘standalone / isolated plan - specific to a single VM)

So.. last year we’d implemented a scheme where there were many subclients looking for VMs through vCenter as such:We later noticed a major drag on vCenter, which was causing lockups and such. We then changed the scheme around to something simpler, with far fewer subclients. The issue went away. As I see it - we simply had overburdened our ESX servers/vCenter with too many authentications and checks. Now, it’s being suggested to me that we create far MORE subclients. I’m thinking of taking what it’s found now per datastore and putting them into a static content as such: VMs in the future will be handled differently (we’ve got a policy setup using category\tags in vCenter - this is our old school method for servers that haven’t been brought into the modern fold). Question - does anyone know if this will generate more authentication traffic again? CV could just authenticate once then go about its business with the list? We’re using a windows domain account to authenticate… I’d think
Hii’m using commvault to backup my vmware environment.I have a DR site, and i use commvault to replicate, once a day, vms from main site to DR site.Backup and replication are working well.I applied a 1 month retention and i schedule an daily incremental with a weekly full.Just fews VMs are replicated. On these VMs, i noticed that there is no more weekly full backups. The weekly full was replaced, i guess “automatically”, by synthetic full.I would like to know if there is away to have a weekly full backup, and a synthetic one for replication ?
Hello everyone,i’m trying to configure Sharepoint online app.Following the documentation I should configure an Office 365 plan, but I can’t find it.From the Command Center, in Manage→Plans, as well as in Guided Setup→Office 365, there is only the Server backup plan. What am I doing wrong? Thanks and regards
Hello! I’m currently looking to see if commvault has a configuration that we can set so the user dbs are not being backup on servers that’s being backup. Currently I am following the documentation outlined, Excluding User Accounts from Backups (commvault.com) , but I’m wondering if this can be set as a default settings to exclude user dbs. from backups.
Hi Community, our customer has upgraded the CommVault Environment from Version 11.28.102 to 11.32.45.Since the upgrade we have Issues with AUXCopies and the VMware VSA backups. We have this Issues with our 4 physical Media agents (Windows 2019) at the head office. The following errors occur sporadically on different DDBs and MediaAgents The following app crash events occur in the Windows log on all 4 MediaAgents I have already carried out a CommVault Instance Repair on all 4 media agents, but unfortunately this has not solved the problem.A CommVault Case was created. Support suspects a Windows OS issue. But I can't believe that all 4 MediaAgents have an OS problem.A "check readiness" on the MAs shows no problemsHas anyone had similar problems after upgrading CommVault to version 11.32.45?best regards,Andreas
We have a system created policy to perform ddb space reclamation and only 1 of the jobs gets stuck and CVODS crashes on the media agent. Hello,We are very new to Commvault Metallic, less than a month old, and the question is, is there a place in the Plans or anywhere else to configure network throttling for remote servers? We also have remote Hyper-V clusters with lots of VMs and would also to throttle those backup jobs too.I know from the documentation, there is an option to throttle the network for Clients and Laptops and we don’t really backup laptops. And I don’t see any options on the Console to do that for servers and VMs.We are throttling our network now on the firewalls, but it’ll be nice if we can do it on Commvault. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Mandi
Hello, Are all the firewall ports listed here (data protection network, except 8400,8403,8800-8900) only need to be open between hyperscale nodes or are they also needed between commserve/clients and hyperscale nodes?Hyperscale nodes will be used as media agents. https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/firewall_port_requirements_for_hyperscale_x_reference_architecture.html
Hi Team,I have an environment, need to configure AUX copy with 4 MAs and target is the IBM ICOS(AWS compatible). Our plan is, configure the MAs with Gridstor and partitioned DDB for Aux copy. So that, we will get HA for MA and DDBs. But, I have few query in the plan and looking some expert opinion make the solution more optimal. When I configure the GridStor for primary copy, each job will pick the different MA in round robin mode, so all the MA will be utilized. But, the aux copy run as single job by accumulating all the available jobs and once the job started it will use same MA. In this case how can we utilize all the 4 MA for aux copy to distribute the load? Do we have any other better way to configure the aux copy with cloud storage with load balancing ?? TIA,Mani
Hi Could anyone please let me know how we can stop recovery on stub file. or the process name that needs to be disabled in the commvault.
Creating a Global Non-Deduplication Enabled Storage PolicyOnce you create a global non-deduplication policy, you can use it to enable global non-deduplication for any storage policy.Download the SP_creation.xml file and save it on the computer from where the command will be executed. Before running the command, review the Available Parameters for Storage Policy Configuration. Execute the following command from the software_installation_directory**/Base folder after substituting the parameter values. qoperation execute -af <downloaded location>\sp_copycreation.xml -storagePolicyName 'xxxxx' useGlobalStoragePolicy 1 -useGlobalPolicy/storagePolicyName "xxxxx" -retainArchiverDataForDays xx -retainBackupDataForCycles xx -retainBackupDataForDays xx -copyName 'xxxxx' For example, to create a global non-deduplication enabled storage policy, with name SP1, that is using SP_GDSP as a global non-deduplication policy, execute following command: Here it is creating a stroge policy using
how can I check all the port that currently being used in my ComVault environment? I check the link bellow for port requirement but wanted to make sure. Port Requirements for Commvault
How difficult is it to obtain authorisation to use the CommCell Console for new installations?Or am I better off just keeping an old Media Kit around?
Hoping to get an answer from the very well educated Community on the following question! What is the data path for Linux VM file / folder restorations done using FREL? What talks to what and over what port? Obviously, we have Media Agent and the VSA Access node involved writing directly into the ESXi datastore but where does the FREL fit into the connectivity picture?I have multiple ESXi hosts and a complex firewall configuration. I’m assuming a single FREL can service multiple ESXI hosts without issue but what ports do I need to open between which devices and which way? I’m guessing ports 8400 and 8403 but between which devices? TIA!
