Hello CV Community We have four virtual Media Agents which work in a Windows Hyper-V environment.  Its come to our attention recently that they are failing a VM level backup.  This is due to them having Virtual Fibre channels which are mapped directly to storage.  I cant see anyway of filtering out vFC’s and as a result the backup is failing.  My main questions are  Is it good practice to backup the Media Agents on a weekly basis? If it is, how do I exclude the fibre channels?  The issue seems to be it cannot create a snapshot due to the integration of Virtual Fibre Channels.May thanksTony Q

Hello dears, i have an issue but i actually dont know is it related to commvault or the mongo vendor or a cluster configuration issue . we have a mongo cluster with a replica set configured.we are performing backups successfully without any issues. we are trying to restore the mongo db to a different cluster with same configuration as production,so i have performed out of place restore multiple times with these configuration:picked the destination cluster and checked the automatic restore.  picked the destination cluster and checked the automatic restore and changed the replicaset name to the destination cluster .  restored files only all above scenarios succeeded but with the below error Data files have been successfully restored. But, all the mongodb servers could not be started with the restored data. when we check the cluster after restore we see that the db is trying to con

When restoring an Azure VM from Commvault using snapshot restore, where the disk names are getting changed. We want to prevent this without changing the disk name. Our infrastructure uses Terraform tool which expect resources to adhere to a predefined naming convention.. In the terraform next execution, If the disk name is changed after restore. Terraform automation will remove the restored disk and create a new empty one as per the standard defined.Can you please suggest a solution to prevent disk name changes during the restore process?

Hi,I can’t find any documentation on what to actually enter for the “Excluded from SLA” alert token criterion.  It seems like it’s probably a boolean, but what do I actually enter?  The words ‘True’ or ‘False’? “Y’ or ‘N’? 1 or 0?Thanks!Sheree

Hello, I need different retention perido for onsite/offsite copy using DD replication.I will be using ddboost through media agent.So to do this i just need to create ddboost replication pair on data domain and configure aux copy as usual on commvault?

Hi team,my customer started an update SP28 ->SP32 . Update failed due to several issues. We are in solving issue by issue but it will take some time.Now we observed that update procedure starts and wants to continue everytime we reboot the Commserve host.We checked the scheduler but cannot find who iniciates  the update process.At the moment we should not and want not update to 32. Sql is now Ok, but we have still some index V1 issues we want to solve on SP28 before update. Does a key or a procedure exist which lock the update process until we are ready to update?Can anybody help ?Thanks in advanceJoerg

Good morning!This is Stefano, nice to meet you all! I have a weird issue with an IntelliSnap backup on a VMware subclient. When Snap Backup starts, if fails after 40 seconds with the error:“91:44 Error getting datastore list for snap. Possible reason includes virtual machine spread across multiple datastores with multiple vendors.”and also“91:488 Unknown error [0] reported from VMInfo for [xxxxxxxxxxxx]. [Unknown VMInfo error [0]]”I only have 1 datastore so all VMs are on it. I already raised a case with CommVault support and the only solution they provided is to reboot the ESXi host. This is a workaround, not a permanent solution. After the ESXi reboot Snap backup start working again.Today I have again the issue, and this time I cannot restart the host so easily.. Anybody knows what is happening here?My infrastructure is:VMware host: HPE server with ESXi 7.0.3Media Agent: HPE server with Windows 2022VMware

Looking to upgrade Commvault with inplace OS Upgrade as well as upgrading MSSQL install during CV Upgrade.The Order of operation i have come up with is:Upgrade Windows Server from 2012R2 to 2019 (inplace) following docs provided here: Performing a Seamless Upgrade on a CommServe Computer (commvault.com) Upgrade MSSQL and CV (from SP16 to 11.24/2022E then to 11.32 (LTS). Questions I have: Are Windows Server 2019 and SP16 compatible? Can I do an inplace upgrade of CV and MSSQL at the same time? Will Components such as the Webserver, Mail Archive Server and Media Agents (on seperate Servers running SP16) still work with the CS being on 11.24/11.32? Happy to hear any advice on this. Cheers,

Hello Commvault Community, I come to you today for asking if it is possible to protect a virtual machine with VSA, where there are both encrypted and non-encrypted partitions. In the case of non-encrypted partitions, there is no problem, it is correctly recognized and protected by the data protection task. However, in the case of encrypted partitions, there is no information about them in the logs, as if he did not see them. Hello, I'm trying to use the API for virtual machine backup. When I run the Go Lang API sample, the API call works, but the JSON response appears to be not in correct format, as shown in the example below.}7101"d":2706,"jobIds":[I tried changing the "Accept" and "Content-Type" headers to XML to see if I could receive the response in XML, but this does not work for this API, despite working for a few other APIs.However, when I do this API call using POSTMAN, I get a JSON response in format.{ "taskId": 2655, "jobIds": [ "7045" ]}What seems to be the issue here? I received also the two badges from Credly. From the partner advantage site, they all appear to have passed and I have received the two badges for professional certified and advanced configuration, but I have no way to download the PDF of the professional certification. From the EA site, I do not see the course participation or the certification.thanks

we want restricted CV agent uninstall form local user.one more thing require. like if commserve not communicate with client, then can we take backup locally save in d drive. and once communicate with commserver then automatically update on server or target ?is it possible ? how ?

Hello All,we are using validate restore workflow. I can use it and it works succesfully. I am admin in our Commvault enviroenment. We have some users who do restore tests. I gave them the following roles. but when they execute the workflow.
