Hi all,After installing the MediaAgent Package on some Windows Servers (These just require the component and do not not act as a Data Mover or host a DR Share) I get the once a day 64:1142 Critical Code Event logged:  Administrative share are enabled on the MediaAgent XXX which could lead to potential security exploits, please review and take necessary steps.Having reviewed https://kb.commvault.com/article/72274 this article only really seems concerned with disk libraries and DR Shares that use an Admin share in its path. I have 2 servers that this is being logged in event viewer for, yet they only have the default C$, Admin$ and IPC$.  Should Commvault be flagging the C$ as something that should be removed?  Indeed if I apply a reg key (AutoShareServer = 0) the alert is suppressed, but this also removes the Admin$ Share.   Are these alerts in the Event Viewer supposed to be triggered for these default Shares by design or is it being over zealous and picking up these in error?  The Cri

Hi, we have a VM attribute setup in Vcenter for the VM and this attribute last backup is modified with the date and time when the intellisnap snapshot is removed.The attributes are backup status and last backup.  We would like to add another attribute in to record the date and time the intellisnap snapshot is created.  I assume we would have to setup the attribute in VI first or can we get Commvault to do this?Thanks 

Hi Everyone!!  I am new here and sorry for my lack of knowledge.  We have a CommVault CommCell and we have changed the location of our primary storage.  In the past to get around this we kept all of our naming and ip addressing the same on the new array as we did on the old so we were able to just slip in with no issues.  This time however due to a internal merger we are now sharing resources with other parts of our company and as such instead of a individual netapp filer dedicated to our enviorment we are using a SVM that is part of a larger storage array.  My Problem is that we have a bunch of old jobs that did not complete due to 1. space issues on our backup target  2. issues with jobs that were deleted ( or partially deleted ) that has caused our commcell to be very grumpy.  We were able to hold the jobs that were broken and start to move data, additionally we split up our jobs ( had 1 job for 4 volumes) to individual jobs for each volume to keep from having issues as we go on fro

Hi, I have a windows server which is a main file server.  However if i need to restore a file or folder to the original location. I seem to need access permissions to the destination folder.  Is there a specific role or credential that would mitigate against this, and allow my Metallic\Domain  user account to perform the restore please.  Regards Tony

Hey,I have some questions during preparation to migrate to the new MA.Before all this change I Matainance MA or Disable it. Which will be better ?I wanna replace OLD MA to new MA. So I use robocopy with /mirror and /copyall to copy DDB and Index( on the same place and disk letter).Then I turn off OLD MA and on NEW MA change IP and name (the same that have OLD),The next step is to install Commvault MA on NEW, and at the end of the installation, agree that there is a Client with the same name and replace it.Do you think it should work?And if something is wrong I have old Ma and can go back to him,

Ok, gonna post out here because I’m not sure where to go. I’ve logged a ticket, but I don’t think customer support is going to help me find out why all of our space is getting sucked up.First, thanks for reading.We are completely out of space and I have no idea where to start troubleshooting why. We went to the Metallic over a year ago for auxiliary copies (primaries are stored on location) and quickly used up our 45TB of space. 2 months ago, we purchased another 10TB and that is now gone as well.I just cant seem to find a process for troubleshooting. Could it be we are not reclaiming space? Are the backups not set correctly and doing a full every time? What jobs are taking the most space. I run some reports, but they are often just a wall of text that I can’t make heads nor tails out of.Anyway, I’m not helpless. I can follow some steps, but I don even know where to begin. We currently have a single Windows Server 2019 running Commvault 11.28.129 (serves as both commserve/media).  I see that our MSSQL is version 2016 ( product version 13.0.6455.2). So I normally download regular maintenance releases on a jumpbox and then upload it to a file share location and then on the commserve I do a copy via TOOLS | ADD/REMOVE SOFTWARE | Copy Software. What is the best approach to upgrade to 11.32.x.   Do I just download both the Windows & linux latest 11.32.x update  (we only have RHEL & windows clients - about 18 total) ??   Then copy the 11.32.x over to our file share were I can then do a copy via commserve  TOOL | ADD/REMOVE SOFTWARE | COPY SOFTWARE? Then just perform a “Upgrade Software” via commcell | Tools | Add/Remove software?Basically can I upgrade the Long Term Support release of 11.32.x via the commcell?Or do I have to download the main 11.32 package from the commvault support site - Downloads & Packages | v11 Download Manager & Additiona

Hi, We are on 11.32, in the command center plan while creating the RPO(schedule) it does not show option for synthetic full backup.As a workaround we created using commcell console. We are going to deploy new environment with 11.36.I beleive in the deployments from 11.34 the commcell console is locked(unless we have auth code).In such a case how do we create a synthetic full in command center Plans(I know there will be automatic synthetic full which is hidden, but we need to define synthetic full manually) ? One more query in  commcell console since schedule policy and storage policy are different, we can customize the subclients with in storage policy with different schedules. But in commandcenter the plan is binded with RPO.This means the subclients in plan cannot be customized with having different schedules.Doesn’t it a limitation of Command center plan? I hope the questions are clear.

We have a bunch of older VM backups, where we only have some full backups left, like yearly and monthly backups.We would like to create a script that shows us the available restore points to do some calculations on them. Can anyone help me to find the available restore points via the Rest-API ?Thanks in advance, Maurice

Friends, We have a change of retention for the backup data of a set of VM backups: we don’t need the month and year backups anymore.The retention was never changed within our Plans, but we only stopped to make the monthly and yearly backups, so it’s not changing the aging process, because the existing month and yearly backups will stay with their current duration. Now we want to delete these monthly and yearly backups, but I can’t find a how...We prefer to do this via Rest-API calls if possible, as we speak about a lot of VM…. Can anyone help us with this? Thanks in advance, Maurice

Hello!I have a question about failing-over and using Okta to SSO into the webconsole.Current situation:Software Version: 11.32.69We use Okta to SSO into Command Center and Java GUI.  When we log into Commvault, it redirects to our Okta side, performs authentication, and redirects to the Active server’s webconsole link.  (Our webconsole is hosted on the Commserve Server).  Failover situation:When we failover, the Passive server’s webconsole actually comes up and works.  I am able to see the login screen.  I am able to enter my credentials, and it redirects to the Okta side.  After it performs the authentication, instead of it redirecting to the passive server webconsole, it attempts to open the active server’s webconsole.  Since it can’t open that, the login fails. Is there a way for it to redirect to the passive server webconsole instead of the active server’s webconsole?  Or is this more of a configuration that needs to be done on the Okta side? Thanks!

Hello, I have a question. When backing up a VMware VM via SAN, it performs backup of all its disks in parallel, which gives us optimal performance, reaching a speed that exceeds 1TB/hr. The problem comes in the restore since the speed decreases at rates between 200 and 300 GB/hr. We see in the logs that each disk of the VM is restored one by one. Is there a key that can solve this problem.
