Good morning! We’re setting up a PG instance with Commvault.  We’re running on RHEL which has a default block size of 4k, but it appears PostGres uses a block size of 8k.  Should we be setting RHEL to use 8k blocks for the database mounts?  If so, can you tell me why?  Our OS folks are curious. I appreciate any guidance you might give.Thanks - Chris

Hi all,since a few days ago two servers appear in the “Missing SLA” section of the SLA report but, as far as I can see, they are regularly backed up on daily basis.These are new servers, recently integrated in our Commcell with the role of Media Agents. Any idea about why this happens? Thank youGaetano

Hello Commvault Community!One of the environments had a problem with backing up virtual machines in Azure.Some virtual machines return an error during backup:"91:413 Encryption status of one or more disks doesn't match the setting in ADE Extension of VM [XYZ]. [All] disks are expected to be in encrypted state.Source: CS, Process: JobManager"The problem occurred for version 11.28.100I see that there is a patch for SP30 with a similar description: Lengthy restores of Azure ADE virtual machines can fail with the error "Failed to setup encryption settings for the VM" - 6577 (11.30.53).https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/files/service_pack/updates/11_30_83.htm However, I don't know if this is a fix that applies to backups, because the description refers to recovery operations.I created this thread to ask whether this may have an impact on the situations on SP28 or whether these are completely independent scenarios and matters that should not be combined.Could I ask you to verify

Hello All,I have a question regarding the behavior of an SQL cluster. Scenario:This cluster is made up of 2 VMs with shared disks. There is also a witness client to this cluster. The witness client was rebooted unexpectedly, and so I’m assuming Commvault determined that the cluster was lost, since a backup set and instance were automatically created on one of the client nodes. What brought our attention to this was that we received an alert that this subclient could not be backed up since there was no Storage Policy associated, and permission not configured, which was to be expected.My questions:Is this normal behavior? (I believe that it is?). If so, why would Commvault do this given it can’t be backed up anyway with no storage policy associated, etc...? Is there an option to disable this behavior? Am I correct in saying that by the witness client being rebooted, the system assumed the cluster was lost? Also, this is not the same as a failover, yes? If an actual failover occurs, would

Hey Guys :)Running a restore from a mysql db. Network Test is ok, but throughput is very slow (2-4GB/hr). On the client i can see i high cpu load (80-95%), and the Disk usage is also close to 100%. But my question is (or from the customer): Can someone please explain me how the restore is working? So what is commvault, the Agent, doing step by step? Why does it create such i high load on the cpu and the disk?Thanks :)KR

can we set encryption of for one vm which is part of vsa job in a subclient ,or is it can only be done for client with agent , is there any way to encrypt only a vm wihtout using seprate storate pool or policy 

Hello, Working on a design for a customer that will provide BaaS using Commvault as an MSP.HSX will be used as primary backup target and they want to provide tape copy option to their tenants.They have a Tape library with 12 drives and 240 slots and expecting 6 tenants. Some tenant will self-manage their backup and some will be fully managed by the MSP. I am wondering how we can make a portion of the tape library available to the tenant (storage pool / drive pool ?) and have access only to its set of tapes, drives and slots. Customer does not have license to partition the tape library.TL drives will be connected to the HSX. Thanks for any inputs

I have a linux ubuntu 20.04 server and postgresql is installed on it. File system core, postgresql, file system are installed as software. I can restore full bakcups, but the restore option for incremental ones is passive. What could be the reason for this? 

I am currently troubleshooting an issue when I try to do a full backup restore to another computer. On the first Destination field, I’m able to select the destination server, but on the second destination instance, it’s not populating the same instance. I’ve confirmed the SQL version on both are on the exact same version.  I thought maybe it might be an issue with the product version of the computer being behind. Tried to update, but I’m getting this error. 

Hi,unfortunately, CV has a bug in relation to schedules and CV Support has not yet been able to provide a solution. As there is no end in sight I am currently building a workaround. I am desperately looking for a way to trigger a backup copy via PowerShell (if necessary via REST) or to start the corresponding schedule (is deactivated due to the error). Hi teamI am creating and testing some DR procedures including vmware VM restore . I have done some restore performance tests. My commvault is. 11.28. I use hotadd mode (the most efficient transport in my environment because of thin disks). Media agent and vm proxy servers are windows 2019. And restore speed of large single VM seems to be below expectations.It is about 990 GB/hr (275 MB/s, 2,2 gbps).What is a bootleneck ? CPU or MEM is not a limit I believe but I noticed that the data transfer speed between media agent and proxy servers during restoring does not exceed 2.2 gbps (240 MB/s) over a 10 gbps network. It seems to me not enough.I checked outside commvault what can I expect from my hardware. The robocopy network transfer tests of a single relatively large 50 GB file (vmdk) from media agent to proxy and shows a transfer on LAN net of no less than 7 gbps (870 MB/s). ?3 times better than in commvault process ? Is it expected behaviour ? Why ? Can I tune this ? I have tried with nn

Hello,I removed a media agent and I forgot to disable the Ransomware protection before I got rid of  it in commcell.Now I can’t delete the directory since its “readonly”. Unfortunately the directory is on a drive also used for other things so I can’t format it. Since the drive has live data I don’t like to do the disk part thing either.Is there a commvault tool or way for me to get rid of the directory? Best RegardsHenke

We relatively often restore older versions of files to users. In the thick java client you can chose to sett a suffix option on the filename when restoring, to not overwrite existing files, and to make them easy recognizable. We can not find this option in the webconsole. (Command Center). Is this a feature planed to be implemented, or is there a simple solution to ad a suffix?The suffix is very useful when you restore larger amount of files to distinguish them from existing files.  

hi , we have hyperscale with encryption enabled and we are having aux copy to tape with below settings basically each tape should give aroung 40 tb after compression but we are only getting 15 tb  , do we need to disabled the encryption .i can see hardware encryption is enabled in the data path setting for tap e  

can a server be part of 2 companies , i am not using plan , i have only storage policies , i have created a company and tried to move the server to new company created , if 2 company want to manage one server can this be achieved without logging to master account
