Hello, i have a problem when i make a backup from some mssql databases with the transaction log backup.Then comes the “warning”/”info”: Failed to set up DataPipe. The connection with this product's Communications Service on MediaAgent may have been reset. Check if the service is running. When i make a full backup it works fine. My CommVault version is the V11.34.5 on the CommCell and the MSSQL iData Backup Agent on the client side. Thanks a lotDietmar

Customer wants to recover a calender item from an Exchange Database.But the recovered object has now the message icon and got the message class ID.The documentation only mentions “messages” but doesn’t list “not supported” message class items.So, it would be great to get some feedback and maybe even the documentation updated to make it easier for other user to find. kind regardsJoerg

Hi team,Im facing an issue witg exchange 2019 Backup is running good no issue But when i try to restore a database it failed with error vss writer errorI checked the vss writer no errors.Checked event viewer log and found an event id 8194 access denied I have added the network service user to COM security and rebooted the exchange server and performed the restore again i got the same error but the event viewer log hsa changed to id 4356exchange, application, service VSS writer, failing restoring a backup. Has anyone faced this issue before ?  It is a dark site and i couldnt get the logs.

Hello, What is best practise to add onedrive,teams apps to commvault through vpn express tunnel? Do i need to create private endpoint first and how to configure the routing through the endpoint? Now commvault trying to connect through the public address.  I can add package through custom configuraton but failed on authorize app, If i use expres configuration with global user its saying that username/passwoord not correct

Hello,Error: Failed to update storage policy copy. Cannot update copy with override retention when storage pool is using Storage WORM lock property set.It is only possible to add/remove associations when we remove the option of WORM storage lock?I know the procedure.@Commvault feedback: It is maybe better to make possible that we can add. (not remove). 

Need to delete folder from 800 clients?Same folder  location and name for all clients.

We have large RDS SQL server in our environment and currently backup is not using multifile option and backup is very slow. I check the AWS documentation, it says that for large large database it support multifile backups.Importing and exporting SQL Server databases using native backup and restore - Amazon Relational Database Service Amazon S3 has a size limit of 5 TB per file. For native backups of larger databases, you can use multifile backup. example:Example of multifile backup exec msdb.dbo.rds_backup_database @source_db_name='mydatabase', @s3_arn_to_backup_to='arn:aws:s3:::mybucket/backup*.bak', @number_of_files=4; My question is Does Commvault

Hello all,I have personal and shared folders on my file server. These folders contain different types of files. I want to archive files that haven't been accessed for 2 years by creating shortcuts, and I want to delete files that haven't been accessed for more than 4 years without creating shortcuts. I want to perform these actions across the entire file server, but I also want to exclude some subfolders where I may need to apply different policies based on user requests. How can i achieve this scenario? Any comment will be appreciated. 

Commvault client was installed on the new server and connectivity between Commcell and new server is working fine. Check Readiness on the the existing pseudo client is ok. However when connecting to the instance it is showing “unable to establish connectivity with these instance properties. instance properties validation failed. Please check DB credentials”. We have an ongoing issue spread to multiple of our media agents. Hi,we are on 11.20 and want to move the Analytics Index to a new location.According to https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=93146.htmwe need the Workflow IndexServerDirectoryMove but i cannot find it in the Store.We have an Workflow AnalyticsIndexDirectoryMove which is from 2015, but it generate an error about CoreID not found. Is the documentation wrong ?!?!Could someone send me the xml File of the Workflow ?!RegardsPeter 

Hi All, we are running 11.28.97 now we have 2 servers with windows file agent and we are getting vss problems: RROR CODE [17:176]: Failed to create VSS snapshot required to run system state backup. System state backup is skipped. VSS error [[0x80004005 2147500037] Unbekannter Fehler]. Please refer VSS Event logs for more details. After reboot the backup runs fine maybe 1 day maybe 3 days its different.  When we check the vss writer and provider status it looks fine. Also the windows eventlog did not show any problems. i also checked the hotfix lists without any hint.

Hi Team,We have daily schedule for SQL restore and some times  SQL restoration job is going to pending state with below error. Hihow can i identify which users impersonate to SQL backup for logshipping job?(Subclient - CvFailoverLogShipping) its suppose to be in the SQL the installed on the Comserve itself? if so, i can identify it? i want to switch the user that do this backup, i created a specific user that cannot lock...just need to configure it in SSMS :)Thanks

Dear All,  Our mails and attachments are archived via enterprise vault and it will leave a shortcut to open it. Somehow we lost all the shortcuts in our mailbox. Is it possible to restore enterprise vault shortcuts from Commvault exchange (DAG) backup?Please let me know. Thank you.  Best regards, Rajes

Hi All, A bandwidth issue is currently affecting production network communications. This problem takes place during the backup period.In order to optimize our backup capacity, we are considering the configuration of dedicated ESXi Hosts for non-production backups.Since commvault uses vcenter to take snapshots of VMs, will these snapshots be taken across all ESXi Hosts, despite us having dedicated ESXi Hosts specific to commvault?Our goal would be for snapshots to be taken on all ESXi Hosts, but only dedicated hosts can transfer snapshots to the media agents. Our fear is that the vcenter will migrate the vmachines in the queue to the dedicated Hosts in order to take snapshots of the VMs.. which is to be avoided. Thanks!

Question: If “System created schedule policy for DDB Space Reclamation” will not run against mount points that support drilling of holes… will me manually running [DDB] → All Tasks → “Run Space Reclamation (and choosing “Clean Orphan Data”) actually run and clean up orphan data if I have mount points that have hole drilling support enabled? Background:I have some mount paths (direct connected storage to physical media agents, not cloud) that have data not associated with jobs, and appear to be full of “referenced data” (they list DDB’s as being referenced) or maybe there is some “orphaned” data in them…I want to clean them up and eventually delete the mount points.I plan to seal each DDB to remove the ‘referenced data”, but I believe if ‘orphaned data” existed, it would be left on the mount point after all the DDB’s were sealed and pruning/ageing occurred on them. Hello,following recent restore request, upon checking we found out that retention of the data has been met and pruned back in 2019, now the client needs data from 2017-2018, so we identified some tapes used for the backup copy to tape, and can see that the tapes are not overwritten, so we can still recover it as per the documentation, could you please help me with the process how can i get the data recovered using aged tape(not overwritten), Note: its NDMP client for which license is released, and current backups are configured on another NDMP client following storage migration (just in case information needed.)
