Dear Team, We encountered an issue during a VM-level backup of an OLVM-hosted Oracle DB server. Immediately after the backup started, the Oracle database went down. We killed the backup job, but the VM snapshot was not deleted.We engaged the Oracle vendor to remove the stale snapshot; however, the snapshot could not be deleted.At present, we only have full file system backups (no recent image-level backup). Please advise on the best approach to recover the server end-to-end. If there are alternative options, kindly share them so we can first validate in our lab environment and then proceed in production if successful. Regards,Mani D

we use Intellisnap to protect Azure VM, Comvault will create ZRS snapshot for Azure disk, any option to create LRS snapshot?

Hey all,Forgive my newbie-ness.I am attempting to setup Azure backup in CommVault 11.26.62.  I created the Hypervisor, but had some questions about the Access Node setup.  I want to put the access node in my region where my storage and VMs are, but my confusion is with it requiring a computer group.  I don’t have any of my Azure groups listed in CV yet, as I don’t have the access node/hypervisor setup, right?If anyone has any documentation on this config i’d sure be interested in knowing.  The CV documentation is, well, just not that good as far as I can tell.Thanks!

hello everybody :)I’m deploying a new infrastructure with on prem Commserve and physical media agents, the customer wants to separate the backup data trafic to an isolated network.I configured the new interfaces for this vlan on each media agent and on the vmware hosts, i can ping everything on this dedicated network.I’m struggle to find how to configure Commvault to use this network for backups with data pair.Obviously I dont see the vmware host on the console, only the vcenter which the server used to initiate backups. So no hosts appears on the network pair wizard. Any recommendation? Do I need to add all hosts on the server list ?

Hello!I hope you all are doing well!I have been working with Commvault for a few years, but I have never dealt with Kubernetes backup before. So I really do have a lot of questions and challenges.While I am still trying to prepare the environment to be stable and resilient, I discussed with the Kubernetes team a specific application called RabbitMQ.We currently have a scheduled backup once per day, but the k8s team told me that there are a lot of changes happening within this RabbitMQ queue. It is constantly changing.So my concern is: how can I help the k8s team to properly cover this? Do you know any best practices for such cases? Something like a log backup maybe? I don’t think running a full RabbitMQ backup every 15–30 minutes is a good idea.Do you have any tips? 

Hello! I am trying to figure out how to setup backup copy job to run right after SNAP backups job finishes.Does anyone has a clue? Default setting were to run every 4 hours but i have changed it to run once per 24h. Now it obviously CANT be changed back and its scheduled to run at specific time 08am.We use CommandCenter and can use also CommCell Console.

V11 SP36 I have this situation where we take a VSA backup of VmWare servers, the deletion of the snapshot can take sometime for two or three servers and causes a warning, when in reality the backup is fine The Delete Snapshot can take one or two hours, as a consequece the Commvault seems to register the ‘Delete Snapshot Duration’ as 30 minutes and a few seconds  In this case the snapshot was deleted after 55 minutesIs there any setting or something else, that could override the warning message?Thanks Mark 

We are migrating the Virtual machines from VMware to Hyper-V. Do we have any option to change the generation of Virtual machine during the restore from VMware to Hyper-V using Commvault.

Hello,we have many vCloud Hypervisor in our environment.We have one Master Org Hypervisor and all other vCloud Hypervisor are created with “Create Org Account” then it is referenced to the master.For some reason, I dont know why, 3 of our vCloud Hypervisors lost the reference to the Master Org Hypervisor and backup was not running anymore.I found no way to reconnect the vCloud Hypervisors to the Org Master. Workaround solution was to create Hypervisor new with other name and during creation you can connect to Master. So my question is, is there a possibility to recreate the connection to the Org Master vCloud for existing vCloud Hypervisor. So I only found it when you create a new one. Editing is for this not possible. Via API I did not found anything which is working.Thanks & BRMarcel 

HI ALL,I was trying to restore a windows server to Azure using the virtualize me. I have taken block level backup for source physical windows server. When I initiated the restore, i get below error.  I don’t get any option to define disk size at destination. Below are the option that I have selected while initiating the Virtualize me : Any suggestion from anyone on what I’m missing !!

Hi all, my task is to deploy multiple VSA proxies. Since I do this for the first time I can not really imagine all caveats and pitfalls that can be hidden.The right procedure should be:install Windows or Linux machine (physical or virtual) install VSA module during Commvault package installation (also specify Commserve server during installation) be sure that required ports are open on the newly created VSA proxyThere is a cuple of questions what to do next:is it necessary to create any Vcenter permissions/roles (as per video https://kb.commvault.com/article/63239 )? how to enable using this newly created VSA proxy? Any contributions will be much appreciated!

We want to get Zabbix alerts which can send Incidents in SNOW for only backup failures of Virtual machine in Commvault, how can i achieve this.

I have 2 FREL’s in my environment and we use this FREL as VSA proxies as well to share the load between other 2 VSA proxies. After upgrading this FREL’s to 11.28.107, we see VM backups fails with the error “The virtual machine [] did not pass the disk size validation. If this issue persists, please contact your vendor support hotline”.I have VCenter level configuration for VM backups and I have 7-8 Subclient and each subclient have 15-20 VM’s in it.When the backup get triggers for this subclient as per schedule, at least 6-7 VM’s fails with this disk size validation issue. Once this VM’s fails, I re trigger them one by one and backup completes without and issue.Can someone tell me, what can be done to resolve this issue completely.

We're encountering a recurring issue related to CBT (Changed Block Tracking) in our VMware environment with Commvault (version 11.36).After incremental backups fail or complete with CBT-related warnings, any subsequent restore of the affected VMs results in machines that fail to boot — only a black screen with a blinking cursor is shown after powering them on.In addition, Guest File Restores are no longer possible for these VMs. Attempting to browse the file system results in the following error:Failed to get items for volume The original VMs continue to run and restart without any issues.The problem affects multiple servers, not just a single system.The issue is resolved after performing a full backup — restores (including guest file restores) then work as expected again.Example error message during backup:Error code: [19:857]  Description: SRV-03\SRV-03.vmdk Warning change tracking verification failed,               SRV-03\SRV-03_1.vmdk Warning change tracking verification failed  So

Hi, I am trying to restore a vmdk and attach it to the VM. Was able to do it successfully on the web console.  I also downloaded the EQUIVALENT API.  How do I use the “EQUIVALENT API” for future restores  without using the web console ?I (preferably) want to use REST, but I couldn’t find the endpoint to run this restore. Does anybody know what the endpoint is ? Thanks in adavance!

We are planning to migrate from VMware to Hyper-V platform. In VMware we have the option to choose transport mode on the sub-client level but in Hyper-V i don’t see this option. We have approx. 1000 VMs to backup after migration. In VMware we have kept dedicated VSA proxies to associate with particular ESX host for Hot Add backups. Could we do similar set up for Hyper-V, instead of using Hyper-V node as a proxy use bunch of VMs acting as VSA proxy which will be associated to particular Hyper-V node for Hot Add backups. 

Hello, during the VSA Backup, the following error appears by some virtual machines: “Timeout waiting for HotAdd Mutex, VDDK Deadlock encountered”The backup job completes with one or more errors. The VM’s with the above error are not backed up, while the VM’s w/o the above error are backed up successfully.HotAdd Mode is in use. What can be done done to fix this?Best regards, Aleksandra

I seem to have multiple servers that only show the C drive when doing a guest file restore. If I mount a whole disk I can see all the others. I have other servers in the same backup Plan that work fine, have very similar servers that work fine, I can’t tell why it isn’t showing. Anyone had this? I’ve logged a ticket but not much of a response so far
