can we schedule separate backup for application only which is part of app aware backup , like , vsa with app aware - once in a day and application every two hours 

dear,I need your support, the client needs a report of the last 3 months of a survey of VM licenses, he wants to know how much license he consumes per month, is there any way to get this survey of licenses ? because by default we can only see the current statuses

 Ok, So I am passing two string variables to the Logevent activity.One for severity, and one for status.And its throwing the following : I did no such thing Apparently it’s expecting a “SeverityLevel” object. ​​​​​​It’s expecting a severity level object?The wierd thing is that I have done this before without a problem so I don’t know what the issue is. I can’t get Jiggy with this someone help.

Hello community,I have a customer that uses Metallic (I know Commvault Cloud… :-)  ) and they are asking if Metallic backs up the SharePoint retention tags/labels of SharePoint objects. They heavily use those and before implementing they want to make sure they are protected and restored with the object.I looked everywhere and just couldn’t find the answer.Anyone has an idea?Many thanks in advance.

Hello Commvault Community, I would like to know about the type of operation in the /Base/JobControl directory and the contents stored there. The environment runs on ServicePack 28 (Commvault Platform Release 2022E) Scenario:- I have a production server with a database CV agent installed- Schedule Policy based on weekly full backups and frequent incremental backups (logs - 30 minutes for example)- The backup jobs themselves perform and finish fine, they dont report any errors/failures On the production server, in the /opt/commvault/xyz/base/jobcontrol directory, there are hundreds/thousands of small 1KB files called e.g. 0.01, 1.75, 2.35, etc., which are not cleaned up after the job is completed.Some of these files are kept for many months and are not deleted.What is in these files and should they be kept for so long or should they be deleted after the backup job is completed?I am afraid that after some time the number of these files will grow so large that there will be no space. Thank

Is the consumption of Operating Instances (500GB capped) counted based on the total capacity of a host or the backup data transaction size per job?For example, if a physical server has a total capacity of 1TB and is used for SQL databases with a backup data size of around 200GB per job daily, how many OI licenses are needed for this scenario if the customer wants to use OI licenses? I'd like to clarify whether it's based on the total capacity of the server or the backup data size per-job transaction.

Background:Running on Commvault 11.28.xI have a folder that basically like this that is needing to have all files and folders in it backed up and its not backing up anything, even though there are files/folders inside it.The path is: \\folder1\folder2\Some Folder [1010-00909]NOTE: This folder is a Windows file share, not *nixCurrently I have this in the ‘Content’ configuration in the subclient, which just has a \ at the end of the path: \folder1\folder2\Some Folder [1010-00909]\Question 1: I was under the impression that you had to put a ‘\’ at the end of a file share path and this would cause all files/folders to be backed up inside the folder. Looking at the online docs: Wildcards for the Windows File System Agent (commvault.com) It does not list using ‘\' at the end, but does show (in a roundabout way) that you need to use 3 asterisks ‘***’ at the end of a folder to backup up all files/folders? Is this ‘the correct way” to so this or is using ‘\’ at the end ok (maybe this is depreca

Hello community, The disk library has 4 mountpaths connected via fiber channel. Unfortunately, one of these has hit a snag and is beyond repair, which might cause issue when browse/recover backup data.While we could consider running a full backup for all servers tied to this lib, but it's not exactly our top choice. Question:How to pinpoint the affected clients on the faulty mount path and find the oldest backup history for these clients?  (do need open a support case and upload CS DB ?)Once I've got that info, I can kick off fresh full backups just for those clients and also manually age data based on the backup history findings. thanks

Hello,we are currently discussing internally whether Commvault can be an alternative to Dell's AppSync product. AppSync was presented to us as being able to create immutable snapshots on the primary storage array. We have Dell VPLEX in use, with Dell Powerstores in the backend.As we are already using Commvault, our idea was to create the snapshots via Intellisnap. Do any of you know whether you can also give the snapshots the immutable flag via Commvault, as AppSync does?

Hi all I have a two part question. I have 2 storage libraries which replicate from Production to DR. Commvault isn’t aware of this replication and therefore the DR library is effectively a ‘dumb’ copy.If I get the Replica Disk Library working, will the existing data on the DR copy be visible to Commvault, or only newly replicated data post creation of the Replica Library creation? Regarding the creation of the Replica Disk Library, I’ve run into some issues whereby I create it and the data isn’t visible. Hello I tried to restore messages from Exchange DB and the job  of persistent recovery stuck on 5% (the backup locate in disks not tapes)and in the media agent that need to create the  recovery point I receive this error in 3dnfs.log:“Failed to send keep alive message to Restore head”maybe I need to restore the DB and then restore messages from DB offline  thank you . 

Hello,Currently, I am using a media agent server with Tape Library LTO 6. We are in the process of purchasing a new tape library, LTO9. Do I have the ability to connect to a parallel 2 tape library? There will be no backups performed on the old system, but items will need to be restored if necessary; the new system will need to copy the new data.

Hi, Has anyone come across a quarantine issue on commvault files by checkpoint endpoint antivirus ? It seems like the files are not signed hence, they are recognized by checkpoint as malware or other menaces. If so, how have you been able to work around it? Regards.

Hello Commvault community,I would like to talk about “Virtual Machine(s) has been decommissioned” alerts.I see that Commvault can understand when a VM is decommissioned.So, in order to safe a Commvault license for this decommissioned VM, I need to manual remove it from VM group or Commvault can handle that automatically?Moreover, it is also necessary to delete the history / previous VM backup jobs (for this decommissioned VM), so stop to consume Commvault VM license?Best regards,Nikos

Hello all!  I am facing a problem with capacity licence.I have exceeded 110% while creating backup for end of year export.But we have done housekeeping after that, and now we are about 92%, please have a look:In web console, I also can see this chart:but still I get a warning on console:And it forces me to reset it every 96h… The system is running at this 92% consumption for about 5 days. Today i have found this in web console in other place… I have contacted Commvault and they have sent me “A loan key”. So as far as I understand the “loan” key is used to temporarily extend capacity license, but it seems that not a problem because we are below 100% right now. I have excluded few clients from backup (disabled backup activity), but those clients do have already performed backups for UAL export.So for now I am confused… How this Capacity License is Calculated? Why we're still getting warning even if we are around 92% for about 5 days? Does already create backups for clients which i have d

There used to be a command in the documentation using which I used to increase the number of rows in the reports, which is by the way set to maximum 10000 rows. I know that we can go past 10000 using reports in command center or web console. But here I am asking about the same to be done in commcell console reports. I know there was a command and I used that several times. But now its nowhere to be found. Does anyone remembers that?
