We want to configure backups for Office 365 & AzureAD.According to the documentation the most secure method currently available is by registering (multiple) apps which can be configured manually or automatically when using a global admin with temporary MFA disabled.The only possible authentication method seems to be clients secrets which is better than service accounts for sure, but I wouldn’t call it the most secure method either.Not sure if (Azure) conditional access can be applied to the app registrations.Is there any other way possible, such as certificates or even managed identities ?It seems Commvault has possibilities in that direction but only for Azure VM’s.Kind regards,Tom

Hi. In the Commcell console, the table layouts that I saved are back to default the next day. If I saved and logoff and back in, table layout is the saved one. Buy the next day, it’s back to default.Windows server is not part of any domain, so no GPO are involved here. It used to stay saved few months ago, but not anymore. Not sure after which update this behavior started.Is there some sort of conf file being created for my CV user, or is this just send in CV DB?  

I need to protect data found on multiple CIFS shares, totaling about 40 Tb of data.I currently have a backup schedule where i take a full backup monthly, and then incremental backups daily thereafter. The problem is that the full backup takes multiple days to complete.Would it be recommended to take synthetic full backups monthly instead of the fulls?What are the drawbacks of never taking another full backup and going with monthly synthetic fulls only?

I am replacing my Windows 2012 CommVault physical server with new 2019 physical server.  I have several disk drives on the current server with commvault backup data I need to retain and I have same configuration on the new server except with larger disks.How do I migrate the CV database & data to new server?

Hello We are on Commvault 11.28.122 and our security team notified me that we have a few vulnerabilities on our linux redhat clients.  Its a medium vulnerability but this client requires us to address medium vulnerabilities.plugin Output:   Path              : /opt/commvault/Base64/libcurl.so  Installed version : 8.4.0  Fixed version     : 8.9.1My questions - Would this possibly be addressed in a “maintenance release” ?  orWould we need to upgrade from 11.28.x to say like 11.32.x or 11.36.x to correct this?  I mean how and were can see what versions of libcurl is included in a maintenace fix or version?   Or do I need to just spin open a ticket with Support..https://www.tenable.com/plugins/nessus/205024 Thanks for looking at my post and appreciate any feed back!ThanksBC 

During cleanup, in some cases, jobs for a few users get stuck in the running state and do not progress. The jobs neither fail with an error nor move to the completed phase, remaining in the running state for days. Is there any additional setting related to this issue or a timeout for a user's cleanup process?

We have an incremental backup that ran on 29 August and completed at 19:11. The storage policy has retention set to 7 day and 2 cycles. On 10 September we unable to restore that data because it has aged. Based on our understanding that backup should only have aged on 12 September before the 2 cycles completed.What could be the reason for this “early aging” of that job?JobStorage policy retention 

Hi, I was wondering if anyone is using the Calendar Backup Job Summary Report from Commcell and do some basic success rate calculating based on this?I think I’m able to use the raw Excel file and calculate the amount of successful and failed jobs using come sumproduct and countifs in Excel but if someone already has done this I’m interested on how it’s done.And there’s a small issue when changing storage policy for a server. Then there will be multiple row in the spreadsheet and I’m not Excel savvy enough to try and combine and find the unique servers and at the same time count the backups on multiple row.So any advise or tips is much appreciated.

HelloI haven’t scanned through all hotfixes, thought I’d ask in here first.Seems that the behaviour is somewhat different for an old commcell and a newer installation.Earlier when we retiere a client the client identifie was changed and a R and a number was added.Now when we do it the client identifier isn’t changed.Was that change din any maintenance release? //Henke   

Hi,We have multiple SharePoint online backups failing, usually the same file (videoplayerpage.aspx). We get the same reason for failure each time.“This part is not exportable. To be exportable, a part must be personalizable and not have its ExportMode set to None. Parameter name: webPart.”Is there a way to backup this file? I’ve looked online but found no solution.

Hi All,- daily incremental backup and Thu Synthetic full backup- every week will rotate and insert week tape on Thu, will not use barcode pattern with spare media pool- if week1 Thu and Fir are holidays, will insert week1 and week2 tape in library on Wed because no one will back to office rotate tapeQ1. due to commvault may use week2 tape backup on week1 Wed or use week1 tape backup on coming Thu and Fir, could week2 mark media full force commvault use week1 tape until Thu and we may remote access and change week1 tape mark media full and change week2 tape mark appendable on Thu and let commvault use week2 tape backup backup coming Thu and Fir?Q2, but we check https://kb.commvault.com/article/53950 "Synthetic full backups will not use Appendable media", if "Synthetic full backups will not use Appendable media.", how can solve? Q3. if Synthetic full backups could use Appendable media, any impact or concern when “mark media full” with “mark appendable”?Best regards

Hi All, if only one tape drive and library have cleaning tape, when aux copy to tape progress e.g. 50% and tape drive detect error require clean tape drive Q1. CommServe setup tape library auto clean with sense code, will backup job auto continue after CommServe auto use the cleaning tape if clean the tape drive successful? Q2. If Q1 backup job auto continue, will it backup star from 0 or 50%? Q3. CommServe setup tape library auto clean with sense code, refer below job management, will backup job pending or waiting or failed after CommServe use the cleaning tape clean the tape drive but unsuccessful over 200 minutes (restart interval mins 20 x max restart 10)? Best regards 

Running v11.28It appears easy to turn on/activate, but since its “not enabled by default” (it appears...maybe someone turned it off?) I don’t know if it's going to cause any issues or require special considerations if I turn it on. So “reasons it’s not turned on by default” seem to elude me.Any reason not to turn on private metrics reporting? Do the reports using up a lot of disk space or memory/CPU for the “private metrics reporting server” (in my case: the commcell server)? Does it cause issues/extra config if you have LiveSync syncing a DR commserver?  Is there a list of reports or “big reasons to turn this on”? I have seen a few blank reports and the docs indicate I have to have metrics reporting on for them. I assume its just “can turn it on if wanted” and not any special software installations or services to manually turn on first or anything to enable it, aside from configuring this part in the java UI: control panel → Private Metrics Reporting → (click check boxes and follow co

we are trying to do OS upgrade the HSX from the existing 7.9 to 8.9 to be able to add additional new nodes (HSX ISO 3.2312) we tried to upgrade the OS using the Command center and CLI both showing upgrade completes successfully however the OS version is still 7.9 i used the below reference for the OS upgrade operation. https://documentation.commvault.com/2024/expert/installing_operating_system_updates_on_hyperscale_x_reference_architecture.html

Hello! We want to use qlist command for Commvault jobs monitoring for telegraf. When we are using it from single host - it completed after 1-2 sec. When we are using it at one time from 10 hosts - we are waiting to 15 sec, and after 50 hosts - to 2-3 min. How does Commcerve handle such requests? Multistream or singlestream?  We are usung whish requestqlist jobhistory -c $CLIENT_NAME -a $AGENT_TYPE -st "$d2" -et "$d1" -js Completed -dispJobTimeUnix -tf /etc/telegraf/plugins.d/dbms/pgtf!--endfragment> 

Hello, Is it possible for commvault to generate a report of all the files backed up on a drive? example the D drive? including the size of the files or how about the top 50 or 100 largest files? If so can this be done through commcell or would it be better using the command center? Thanks for any help in advance

Hi All, i have an problem with my nutanix ahv vsa backup.  I git the message: Failed    Virtual machine [xyz] was not found. Please verify that the virtual machine still exists and that the host is in the connected state. If the virtual machine does not exist remove it from the subclient. If the virtual machine does exist reselect the virtual machine and re-add it to the subclient content.     When i do an browse i found ths maschines. Also under prism central the vms are up and running.  I created an test subclient with this vms but doesnt help.  Do you have an idear ?

HelloIs it possible to merge two clients with two different client identifiers?We installed two agents, File&System and SQL, on a server using the FQDN for both host name and display name. The server is run in Azure. “servername.domain.com”Then after a while we added that server to virtual backup. When we did this it ended up with just the name of the server as client identifier. “servername”.This resulted that we now have 2 clients in commcell for the same server. So the question is, can I use the Merge Clients workflow to merge them?Or is it to uninstall and reinstall to solve this?BRHenke
