Hi all, Had a question regarding the current IAM policies being provided by Commvault for AWS policies that are all documented here. My question is in relation to this policy. More pointed, I’m interested to understand if anyone has taken the time to configure these policies in a “least privilege access” approach utilizing something like condition based tags. I understand that Commvault provides this policy. But as you can see, the bottom half of that policy is still far more wide open than what would meet a “least privilege access” approach. For instance I’d like to understand what SSM is being used for and how we could approach restricting these specific permissions to only the resources we need to give it access to: "ssm:CancelCommand""ssm:SendCommand""ssm:ListCommands""ssm:ListDocuments""ssm:DescribeDocument""ssm:DescribeInstanceInformation" Open to thoughts, suggestions! Thanks,

Hi all, I have a CS on SP11.latest and I am trying to restore emails from 2011.I can browse these emails but when I try restore to .pst the destination client is blank.The Proxy server we’ve always used is also on SP11.latest, but I suppose I am missing a package or something.Anyone have a trick to get these emails restored?P.S. Recalls also do not work, I guess it’s related.

Hi, I have had a user who has many older emails with stubbed attachments that have had them removed and replaced with the one file, “Archived Attachment List.txt" .  This file is a list of the files that ere archived.It appears to be emails prior to April 2021, and more recent archived email has stubs as they should be and are able to be recalled.I cannot find any mention of this behaviour in documentation.I do not know how widespread this problem might be.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Cheers

Hi all,is there any way how to display overall throughtput withing the Commvault Commcell? In the Job Controller I can see a list of running jobs and I want to know the sum of all items in the current throughput column. Is it feasible to manage this task? Can help any tool with it?I have tried to run cmd q commands and count the throughput within the script, however, the start date of the backup job is not the real one? Then, I am not able to calculate the current throughput. In general, how can I calculate current throughput if it is not possible to directly display it? Example: in script there is an output for Job Id 35478 - jobEndTime 1629021648, however in CV console for the same job it shows 13:08:43   Thanks for any ideas.

Hello,Added a Kubernetes Cluster. The pods are discovered fine however during the backup I see the following on vsbkp.log and job goes into waiting state.Error mounting snap volumes. Possible reason includes there is no FC or iscsi connectivity found with esx server. Please check whether nIscsiEnable registry key is set if you are using Iscsi method for mounting.Not much in documentation for K8s  Any Ideas ?

Is DPM 2012to Commvault Data Migration Possible?

Hi,I have an issue where my user have application that the license tied to MAC address of the vm. When I do restore the vm (overwrite existing), the vm restored having different MAC address than original. Is this supposed to happen? Is there any ways that I can preserved the original MAC address when restore the whole vm?This is using vsa Nutanix vm backup.regards,Fauzi

All,I am getting a major error message 35:284 when running the commserveDR jobsaying it cannot gather log files error code 35:284.and I have no idea what is causing the problem. any pointers appreciated 

Hello,  recently we figure out that we are not able to use decoupled rpm package for upgrades: yum update.even worse it can break yum update process. I found way how to create this kind of package. Solution is to create  install and update package from same source and merge them to one. how to catch spec file is in my previous post than you have to copy binaries from packages to one. For upgrade binaries I changed path from /opt/commvaultUpgrade to /opt/commvault/Upgrade so everything is under one path /opt/commvault. Then you have to merge spec files. I used install spec files as destination and added upgrade spec differences. Here is how to recognize type of process (install/upgrade). I worked just with v11FR20MR60(Linux) so it is reason why this post is so generic. Filip

What is the difference between the iTeamsUseProtectedAPIs and the client1_iTeamsUseProtectedAPIs additional settings?Does "client1” needs to be replaced by something ?Is it correct that these additional settings must (can) be placed on an access node alone (e.g. not on the CommServe)?Thanks!

HI, i was looking at the commserve hardware requirements. You can have a combination of servers, virtual machines, and laptops in a single CommCell environment. The total workload must equal the maximum number of servers, per CommCell environment type (Extra Large, Large, Medium, or Small). The workload equivalent for each entity is as follows:Server: 1 Virtual Machine: 0.5 Laptops: 0.2now i fully understand the above calculation of the environment size.however, what if a Commcell has let say 500 deconfigured clients.would these need to be calculated? if so, are they full “servers” or do they count for less then this.as technically they are not active but still in the Commserves DB. thanks in advance, kind Regards, Thos Gieskes.

we are helping a customer restore data from their old commserve envrioment; we had a VM level backup for the commserve; we restored it the services are working; however the credentials supplied by the customer is not working.  Is there a way around it?' commvault sevrices appear to be working okay (looked at the Simpana services console; everything is showing as running)Also, is there a log file that I can check what’s going on.  SQL is installed on the same VM.  Also, becuase this was a old commvault system and required to be stood up to look for historical data; can we raise it with support team 

Hi,I have 2 Eternus CS200 S1, one in main site and 1 in DR. Previously both are standalone appliance with license each. During the implementation, the requirements changed and the DR appliance was installed in cold standby mode. Licenses for both appliance were merged together into one license with support for dual IP’s for DR purposes. Now there’s a new requirement to separate the 2 CS 200 as stand alone appliance again. Questions are:Is there a way to get the license back for the DR appliance? Hi there,I would like to disscus how to get rid of too much storage policies. So, if I want to join two storage policies into one, I will just move the sublient to the second storage policy? And the old storage policy can be marked as hidden? Is there no other pitfall?

We have a Linux client with File System Agent installed. The defaultBackupSet have 5 Subclients. All of them disabled for a long time. One of those Subclients have 60 Incremental Backup Jobs without a base Full Backup. There is no Full Backup. I double-checked the backup history (Backup Type: All / Job Status: All / Time Range unchecked / All operations).Do they have any use?Would it be possible to restore some data from those jobs even without a Full backup?

I have 3 physical sql servers, 1 standalone and the other 2 are clustered, but none are showing up anymore in the list of clients? My commcell and index media agents are though? I’ve checked client filters, but no luck.

Hi  Team, In one of my customer environment, for two of Media Agents the Commvault services(Base & Media Manager) are frequently going offline.I can see Commserve & MA are in same SP with 22.25 Please let me know what could be the reason for this. 

Hi all,After upgrading to SP20 the subclient shows the following error (the previous version was SP12):[RMAN-06908: WARNING: operation will not run in parallel on the allocated channels] The job ends successfully but with errors: I noticed the problem during the archive log phase.The Oracle RAC version is 12.1.0.2.0. There are two physical node. I have three RAC instances configured on three different Pseudo-clients that have the same two physical nodes. Strangely, one instance continues to function correctly after the upgrade despite having the same configuration in the Commvault environment as the other two. Before with the SP12 I saw the same error in the RMAN Log, but it was not highlighted in the job. The job completed successfully (Green Status).Even the instance that works correctly shows the same error in the RMAN Log but it is not highlighted in the job that ends correctly (green status).

Hi,Our customer recently upgraded from SP18 to FR20.Afterwards, they noticed they can’t reach the CommCell Console anymore using the URL http://”commserve”:81/console , which they always used in the past.Connecting to it over port 80 seems to work fine.We checked the IIS bindings and they are still there, so we’re unsure what happened.Has this been removed in FR20? We reset commvault processes and ran a iisreset but that didn’t help.Thanks.Jeremy
