MongoDB sharded incremental backup

Hi Team,I have configured MongoDB backup and successfully run Full backup. When I want to run incremental backup there is no option for incremental backup. Either through commandcenter or from commcell console.Any idea why is that? Or I need to create another subclient for oplog backup?Thanks and best regards,Fauzi

GPFS BACKUP GOES TO PENDING STATE

Hi,I have one GPFS pseudo client. The backup is directly going to tape, whenever there is no scratch media in the library, the backup is going to pending state instead of waiting state whereas I can see other tape backups going to waiting state.If I suspend and resume the job, it is resumed but still the backup is running more than the total number of file and size.

Tapes Marked as Retired

New load of CommVualt 2022E,  System marked all of the brand new tapes as Retired Media, How do I get it set as usable Spare Media.  Have used older versions of CommVault but not the newer ones.

Power Management for media agents

Hello everyone,As per, https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/101313_cloud_mediaagent_power_management.html 1. How many maximum Proxy servers’ power can be managed using 1 Cloud controller(2CPU, 2GB RAM)? (Minimum shall be 1, would like to know the Maximum)2. Is the contributor role required for the Cloud controller or Proxy servers or the client servers? Since the cloud controller is the one who would be managing the power status of other servers, it should be for the Cloud Controller and not some other servers. Please clarify. Grateful for any insights BR

Do HotAdd servers need MediaAgent software installed?

Basically the title.  I have a bunch of HotAdd servers that have the MediaAgent software installed. Do I need to have the MediaAgent software installed?  We have IntelliSnap running to back up the VMs on the vSphere As a bonus question, these HotAdd VMs also have the file system agent installed.  How do I uninstall just that software?  Or will I need to uninstall Commvault software completely and reinstall Commvault?

Need to Improve backup and restore speed

Hi,Below is my configuration:Commserve is VM machine and version is 11.24.103.Media servers - 1 is Physical and another is VM - Both are configured as Disk’s library (Disk’s are coming from Storage Lun’s).Proxy Node (Access Node) - Both media servers are assigned as access node.We have around 100 VM servers under a vCenter, so I have split 10 sub clients in each VM.I have selected the Auto mode and backups are running nbd most jobs.Currently, I can see the backup/restores are running very slow. Is there anything I can do improve the speed.  Thanks in advance.

SSO login Issue for Cross Domain --New

Hi All,  We are not able to access Commcell Console via SSO from other Domain. We re getting Database error while trying to access Commcell console. From EVMgrs Logs we are getting 0xc000019B error. And from Client Machine  we are getting 0x1b Unknown error. Microsoft is suggesting us to create SPN for Service Account , Is it Necessary to configure SPN for Cross Domain SSO. Please suggest us how we can troubleshoot the issue.

What is the maximum number of cores on Commserve Machine?

Hi, When installing Commserve a SQL Server is installed too. There is a license limitation for SQL Server as per documentation:For SQL Server 2019, the license is limited to 4 sockets or 24 cores, whichever is less.https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/132365_commserve_server_system_requirements_linux.htmlCustomer wants to reuse existing hardware and to install Commserve Server role on it. This server has a processor with 32 cores on it. It is my understanding that SQL Server will be limited to 24 cores, but would this be a license violation to install it on a machine with more then 24 cores? What can we expect? Regards

updateIndex failed on MediaAgent - Index files are missing

I have ndmp backup on client that failed in the last evening and it shows me this error :UpdateIndex failed on MediaAgent - Index files are missing. Job could have earlier run on a different MediaAgent possibly due to a failover(error 14:200) Also, I checked in this link :https://kb.commvault.com/article/54339and checked in the environment the space in the index directory and there is 94.85% free in the index directory cache I added here photos   Thank you

CommServe Hardware refresh from Windows 2012 & SQL Server 2012 to Windows 2022

Hello,  We plan to perform a CommServe hardware refresh from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2019. Commserve is on Feature Release 28, and the SQL server version is 2012. What is the upgrade path for the Commserve with SQL running in 2012? Do we need to first upgrade the SQL to 2014/2016 and then perform the Hardware refresh? Or is it possible to perform a hardware refresh without upgrading the SQL? The documentation doesn’t mention about SQL upgrade path.  CommServe Upgrade with Hardware Refresh: Overview (commvault.com)

Disk retention while using Auxiliary copy

Hi Team,We are configuring Storage policies and including Tape for auxiliary.Please find the below requirement. Requirement 1: First storage policy will configure Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly schedule for disk and then only Weekly, monthly & Yearly will go to auxiliary copy of tape.Requirement 2: Second storage policy will configure Monthly (keep disk) and that is no need for auxiliary copy.Our Clarifications:Is it will configure separate schedules for Weekly, monthly & Yearly? After retention of backup, the data will delete from disk without auxiliary copy (requirement2).Please advise.

Exchange Online Backup with MS Archive

Hi All, i have an short question regarding the exchange online mailbox backup.  The companay decided to activate the Micorostf Archive feature for Mails.  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/policy-and-compliance/in-place-archiving/manage-archives?view=exchserver-2019&viewFallbackFrom=exchonline-ww So every mails wich are older than 180days should be moved to the archive.  Is there any impact to our Backup ? My opionion is not because we are running every 4 hours an backup and when a new mail is dected the mail would be backuped directly and is saved on the backup storage, When now the Micorosft archive policy is moveing the mail it doesnt belong to commvault. The Backups are incr 4 ever so no impact.  is that correct ?

Hi Good day!Environment Details Planned initial:Commserve: dual home.  has network 10.x.x.x (agent backup) and 172.x.x.x for (VMware)Network Topology: Bonded LACPTotal Portal on HSX:  2 dual cards 25 GB ports. and 1 ILO/IPMI. Total available port per node is 5 including ILO.How many nodes: 3Plan to define only two network DP with CS and SP.DP/CS Registration: 172.x.x.x SP: 192.x.x.xPresent issue:Customer has non-routable network (10.x.x.x for agent backup DB/SQL) which cannot be routed with DP network mentioned above. This is a reference architecture and HSX can have only one routable network possible.Does below topology will work, looking for best suggestion:Topology: Bonded VLAN LACPDP bond1 has VLAN 100 and 200.and SP is 192.x.x.x no VLAN.bond1.100  VLAN on DP for CS Registration and default gateway will mention on this network. (DNS, NTP, SSH, VMware, replication aux copy) all should work using this network 172.x.x.x, it is a routable network. Note: DNS and VMware are on different

Maximum number of parallel data transfer and Device Streams

Hi, I set the Maximum number of parallel data transfer on my MAs to 300, but the Device streams on my storage policies is set to 100. I have 5 storage polices. I just wonder if I need to increase the Device streams to higher number than 100? Thank you.

Hello Team, Currently File system backup using Netbackup with accelearated feature (data size is 7TB) and the full backup job is completing with in 45 Mins. Please advise in commvault will use same accelerated feature to make it backup jobs speed.

Re-Copy bad chunks on secondary copy

Here is the situation: Primary copy - main siteSecondary Copy - DR site Tape Copy - DR Site We are doing Aux copy from Primary > Secondary and Secondary > TapeWe got alot of errors reading chunks when doing Aux to Tape. we noticed that those jobs fail to restore from Secondary copy also , on Primary site , jobs can restore Can i mark chunks/jobs as bad on secondary copy and have commvault recopy the jobs INCLUDING the bad chunks from Primary copy again and not save bad chunks due to dedup ?

Two HyperScaleX External Commserv Registration

Hi Good Day,I like to know whether two HyperscaleX  located in different DCs (25 KM distance between DCs)  can register with a Single Commserv sitting in one of its DC?  Is this workable and any thing to consider before setting up.Also like to know an auxilary copy can be send to opposing DCs HSX devices managed by Single commserve.

I have a backup to usb-library and I put off week 4 and insert week 5 The environment looks good but it shows me this message that included I have an option to do update barcode from the usblibrary, this option can help? if you could help me it would be great , thank you  very much .

Change/remove SQL Impersonate Users via API or PowerShell modules

Friends, I try to find a way to automate the sql61props via Rest API or Powershell modules. Does anyone has experience with this? My goal is to remove the MSSQL Credentials (Impersonate Users) or replace by dummy and to disable overrideHigherLevelSettings per Client as this is now managed at Server Group. I tried to use Get-CVClient, update $_.pseudoClientInfo.idaInfo.sql61Prop as how I want to have it and post this via Set-CVClient. The answer is that it is successful, but nothing is changed. I also tried to update the settings directly via Submit-CVRESTRequest with the result; answer like succesful, but nothing done. I was looking at sending an XML to send the update, but I can’t find the parameters. Can anyone help me with this?Thanks in advance,Maurice
