I am trying to calculate the number of API calls that would be made for transferring to Glacier. Documentation says that objects are 32MB in size, are the objects uploaded in one 32MB Put or is MPU used at the default 8MB?

Hi,I have a new install on Ref Arch version 11.32I am going through the “what to do next” BOL to make sure all is secure. For the Firewall I run # firewall-cmd --state but I do not get a response telling me the state of the firewall.  I run another cmd I found systemctl status firewall and it replies. Any reason why the CV cmd in BOL does not work ?

Hello guys, i need your opinion about what is the best rout to take in order to perform an Aux Copy from StoreOnce catalyst to azure. so my question is this :is it preferable to just create a blob storage and the create an Aux copy to send the data to Azure or to create a VSA StoreOnce to azure and do a copy Between the to StoreOnce catalyst ?what is the best approach from your side to this situation ?

Hi everyone,We updated our CommCell from version 11.24 to version 11.32.49 on 20 April. Immediately after the update, the cloud backup (M365 Exchange and OneDrive) still worked, but no longer does. I therefore do not know whether the following problem is related to the update:The backup of M365 Exchange and Azure no longer works:   We have already recreated the APP including the service account and checked the authorisations in the tenant. We cannot find any errors.The Commcell, the MediaAgent and the Accessnode all have version 11.32.49 installed.Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks & regards Pascal

Hi Techies, We have 11.32.49 and its job controller do not show correct job status / progress in Java console. Sometime it will update real-time, sometime 20 to 30 minutes delay. Thought we have open a support case and awaiting RCA. In the meantime, I am sure many of you have come across similar issues.  This problem that I explained above is with all types of jobs. In fact library space also messed up badly.  

Recently I was tasked with restoring ACLs on a file share that was accidentally overwritten.  When I started working on the recovery I had an issue that I was  unable to see what the permissions were on the folders and files in the backup and the only way I was able to determine which backup had the data that I needed was to restore multiple times until I was able to find a backup that had the ACLs on them.  Is there a better way to do this?  Is there an option in Commvault that I’m not aware of to be able to view the ACLs on the backup copies of the data? Thanks for your time.-Adam

Background: We are taking weekly synthetic fulls (daily incrementals) and only writing the “last full of the month” to tapes.Question: If we moved to *not* doing weekly syn fulls and chose something else like bi-monthly or 1 Syn full/month, all other things being the equal (like our retention and tape writing stays the same), are there any benefits to storage on disk or “possible issues to consider”?Comments: I bet “restoring something is likely to take longer as it may have to reconcile many more incrementals” but I’m mostly hoping that less syn fulls - less data stored on local storage, but I’m not sure if this is true.  I can’t think of any other possible issues other than if you have corrupt/bad incrementals (for whatever reason), that would be much more of an issue than always having a weekly full to compensate, if a restore was needed.

Nun haben wir das Problem das die Library vollgelaufen ist und wir bestimmte Bänder nicht freibekommen, weil verschiedene Jobs die nicht ausgealtert sind das Band nicht freigeben und teilweise wegen ein Job noch gehalten wird.  Wir wollen versuchen jetzt in Zukunft ein sauberen Jobs auf dieTapelibrary bringen.  Kann man irgendwo in Commvault einstellen das bestimmte Jobs einer Storage Policy in eine bestimmte Medien Gruppe / Storage Pool der Tape Library geht und andere Jobs die halt eine kürze Vorhalte Zeit haben dann woanders auf der Library kopieren. So das sie nicht im gleichen Medien unterkommen? Vielen Dank für die Zeit zum lesen. 

I have a very small 5-7 servers/hosts (physical) to protect. I think its about 6-7TB. Have any of you ever installed Cmmvault as an All-in-One configuration? If so, what are some steps you would like to share? I can’t seem to find any link that will show how to do this.

I’m trying to run an intellisnap backup of an Oracle database, but unable to resolve why it’s not running. The array has been added to Commvault properly, intellisnap is configured on the host, but every time I try to run a backup I get hit with the following error message: Error Code: [32:392]Description: Failed to prepare snapshot. : [VendorId [DELL ] for device [/dev/sda] is not matching for DellEMCPS]Trying to troubleshoot the error message and I can’t seem to figure out where I’m going wrong.

2019 iMac, i9, 128GB RAM, 4TB OWC SSD, macOS Sonoma 14.4.1, backed up by Metallic Endpoint (laptop).I’m getting the error “Some huge extended attributes couldn't be backed up” and “Resource deadlock avoided” on the individual files in an encrypted (Cryptomater) directory under iCloud on my Mac. This is new, only in the past 4 days. I’ve used Metallic to back up this machine for 4 years.iCloud is showing the “Download” icon, so some files are local and the rest are in iCloud. Hi Everyone, We Currently have Commvault commserv (All VMware Environment) targeted to HyperScale appliances. However, HyperScale 1300 is EOL/EOS. We have a spare HP MSA 2050 SAN storage available and require your advise before we configure it as a library.As HP MSA being an entry level storage, is it recommended to be used as target library even though disk speed are 7k for  HyperScale and HP MSA? Would there be performance issues as storage needs to mounted to additional server server to be used over 10 gig network as VMware does not have SFPs? Would configuring backups on HP-MSA give us same dedeuplcation ratio as that of HyperScale appliances ?

Hello,We are running some pre-DR tests and workflows and I have come across an issue with VMWare VM restores (Windows) to Azure.  Basically, the Azure agent does not get installed.  The server can be reached through RDP, but other extensions that require the Azure agent, won’t work.  I worked with Microsoft and they showed me how to install the agent, both online and offline.  However, looking through the documentation, Converting to Azure Resource Manager (metallic.io), I see a mention of installing Hyper-V drivers for Linux, but nothing for Windows machines.Is this normal behavior?Thank you!

Hello, one of our customer want to move away from the Exchange Compliance Archive and the “Offline Contenten Indexing” as a Search Engine infrastructur.The new solution will be the ContentStore Mail Server - SMTP.The customer is planing to recall/restore all old mails from the old archiv into the “new” Client to also remove all the old entries of long retiered systems. Another Painpoint is, the old Search Engine hit the next limit (more then 100M object) and it would require a new Node to be added.Is there any way, to restore the data directly onto the ContentStore Mail Server, or do we need to have the messages restored into the exchange server and push them from there into the Contentstore Mail Server?Or am I missing any other Option for the migration steps?Kind RegardsJoerg
