Hi All.We are looking to configure a secondary copy from on-premises into Metallic storage. We’ve had storage provisioned by Metallic and this storage has been added into CommServe successfully and is showing as Ready.Now, to avoid impact to our Internet connections, we are will be using a different WAN connection, and have a supportive network design established to carry the data across our secure WAN and eventually ingress into Metallic via an Express Route.I am aware of this article https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/145407_configuring_azure_expressroute_and_private_link.html which has helped us understand what is required to permit connectivity from our Azure virtual network across to Metallic.The query I do have however is:After the cloud storage is added as a Library and assigned to Media Agents - I see there isn’t really any further configurables to ensure data is written actually honours the network path/routing we desire it to take. Hi teamDocumentation says disabled subclients are not counted in the capacity license. On the other hand disabled subclients backups are kept according to retention.So … do we have some kind of archive for free?What would happen if we enabled such a subclient only for a while and repeated backup ?How does Commvault prevents this action ? Regards

I’m trying to configure Live Sync and have done the installation on my primary CommServer.  When I try to do the portion on the standby server at my DR site, I find the windows I’m presented by the installer don’t match what’s in the documentation and they get progressively more different until I’m looking at a screen that doesn’t appear anywhere in the Live Sync documentation.My question is this:  Should I open a support ticket or is this something that CommVault professional services / CommVault consulting should be hired for.  I’m not sure what my next steps should be.Ken

Hello,I am newbie to commvault. The vendor just configured the backup for all physical servers in my company during the presence of previous system admin without providing any documentation or training to the system admin who left recently, now I took over his position and just learnt the basics as how to create backup of newly added servers via searches. I use commcell console as it looks easy.Here’s my task/scenario:Now I have a task to migrate windows server 2008 r2 active directory server (on HP proliant Gen 8 physical server whose backup is already configured in commvault) to freshly installed windows server 2019 (new HP proliant but Gen 10) via fsmo transfer.But before doing that to be very careful, I want to test the migration on virtual setup by doing bare metal restore of win ser 2008 r2 on esxi host so that if anything goes wrong on live setup, I could immediately turn on the restored active directory vm and the clients don’t get impacted.I added esxi host in commvault commce

Hi, We have PostgreSQL Clients with both FSBased and DumpBased backups running as dba’s want to have both point in time restore and table-based restore possibilities. The FSBased backups runs fine with good performance but the DumpBased backups are slow. If I configure more than one stream they are allocated but one stream at the time is used anyway. Is there a way to speed up these DumpBased backups? Will Block-Level backups provide the same requirements for restores? ie both granular and point in time log restores? Regards,/Patrik

Hi When adding a new Cloud Storage, metallic keeps asking me for a Media Agent. I have 2 cloud storage already configured in different AZURE regions (EastUS and WestUS), and i need to create a new one in UK.We are sending backups directly to Storage Accounts in azure, with out mediaagents o gateway servers.  

Good afternoon,I wanted to check with the community before generating a case with support, regarding the number of outstanding prunable blocks. On a library, which has started to increase 1TB per day, we have applied a 'run space reclamation' and have recovered 30TB of 65TB it had in size. Although this library has only 6TB in use. It is strange. We are seeing a large number of outstanding prunable blocks but performing the 'run space reclamation' does not remove them.     ​​​​Does anyone know the reason?Thanks

We have some servers which in the last days is going in pendin mode with the error : Error Code: [10:64]Description: Unable to communicate with the remote machine [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] to start the Data Pipe. Please check the network connectivity between the local machine and the remote machine and verify this product's Communications Service is running on the remote machine, Error [Failed to find tunnel to [media agent].Source: <client>, Process: SQLiDA But when I do a check readyness from the java gui - and then resume the job - it will run ok.But the next job will go in pending - and I must do the same thing over again. I have updated the client and restarted the Commvault services on the client - but nothing helps. Any Ideas

Guys,Sap TEAM is having trouble configuring MAXDb. I installed the Client on the Server and sent the documentation to SAP Team.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/22215_sap_maxdb_backups.html But to run the bckup. The error is occurring as shown in the attached imagem.  Are the parameters correct?

Hi, I'm new to Commvault and I have a question regarding the "Restore-CVVirtualMachine" PowerShell command. I wanted to make a script that will restore a VM from a backup created in the source VMware vCenter to the destination VMware vCenter using PowerShell. As far as I can see, the "Restore-CVVirtualMachine" command only supports restoring to the same original VMware vCenter.At the same time, I can easily restore from the Commvault console to the target VMware vCenter.Does Commvault support recovery from PowerShell to another vCenter?

Hi all, Our customer wants to perform a test Full System recovery of a physical Domain Controller in a fully isolated environment. We we are thinking about the following setup: Add an extra MediaAgent VM to the environment with a small local Disk Library (without Dedupe) AuxCopy the latest Full File System backup of the Domain Controller to that new MA/Disk Library Clone the CommServe VM and MediaAgent VM into the isolated environment Perform a Full System Recovery of the Domain Controller (onto a VM) Now, my main concern here is Indexing V2 which is used. With Indexing V1, the full Index for the backup job would be automatically copied together with the data. But with Indexing V2, the Index Database is backed-up separately and only the Transaction Logs for the Index of the backup job is backed-up/copied together with the data (if I understand correctly).Will we able to Browse and Recover the data without AuxCopying the entire Index Database backup to the temporary MA/Disk Library? Hi,My customer have DB2 backup, but when there is an issue on DB2 and normal backup fail, there is an auto job stated as (command line) that keep repeating to run. Since it is failing, report shows a lot of failed job hence raise a question from the management.Is this standard practice that if normal backup failed, a command line backup will be kick in? Is there any way I can disable or at least prevent it to run repeatedly even though it is failed? Thanks and best regards,Fauzi

I am in the process of moving all our data from tape to a disk library and need to estimate how long this will take. Has anyone come up with a reasonably accurate way of predicting how long Aux copying data for a given copy would take.I have 6 x Tape Drives in a library. This has been used a a target for multiple Auxcopy operations for multiple Storage Policies. Due to tape contention a multiplexed multi stream Auxcopy for a Storage Policy copy could be written to 1 to 4 drives depending on drive availability. I am also interested to know how this works. When the operation began it copied the oldest data first , but as time went on the completed and partially copied data began to appear throughout the timeline. Is there away to make the most recent data copy first? Does an Auxcopy operation begin copying all jobs on a given mounted piece of media, or does it only copy some jobs and will have to mount that tape later.

What I am doing here is using the javascript subscript method to get a character to use in a switch statement.I noticed the switch statement is always going to default so I stuck a logger.info snippet into the workflow and apparently substring is returning a number instead of a character.    Clearly I am doing something wrong. Halp.

I’m looking for anyway to have new clients installed to be directed to use X plan. Whether that be in a workflow, client group, or other.

VMware VM are on the NetApp.In one environment We have CIFS share on the NetApp which we would like to backup LAN-FREE to Spectralogic Tape libraryWe have VMWare VM which we would like to backup LAN FREE via the Intellisnap to Spectralogic Tape libraryhow do we achieve this?
